I'm saddened every time I think about the quiet and all-too-soon passing of this gentle musical genius...'Dubbed early on as "the quiet Beatle" - he lived up to that moniker pretty well... George was a kind and gentle soul, and he found happiness in his music, his family and his Hindu faith. Fate gave him more time than it gave John Lennon, his band mate an' longtime friend, but still not enough... I love all four Beatles, but I especially love George an' Ringo...the two unpretentious Beatles who had a humble an' genuine grace about their "second banana" status to the egos (an' talents) of both Lennon and McCartney... Shine on, George...your legend will long endure...'May your soul always know peace.

The Beatles had four distinct and creative personalities. George was unique and to millions, their favorite Beatle. The pop music business is brutal and not many would come back to have a #1 hit at the age of 44 like George did. Another one taken too young due to heavy smoking for much of his life. It was a dark year when fall rolled along, first with 9-11, then the crash of AA flight 587 and then George's passing at 58.

The exact day George died was the same day I gave birth to boy/girl twins. His passing that day inspired me to change my sons middle name to George. You are so missed.

I was in high school (and started being a Beatles and Beatle music fan in 1999) when he passed away in 2001. I cried when I heard about his death and saw it all over the news.
