He passed the day after my 6th birthday. I remember fussing and crying over having to share a small slice of cake that evening with my three family members, how unbelievably trivial that is in hindsight, while George's beautiful soul was preparing to leave his body. He is so dearly missed... My sweet George, I really wanna see you.

I wasn't even alive in 1980, but it saddens me greatly to even think about the way John died. Especially when listening to Beautiful Boy and hearing him sing that he can hardly wait to see his son come of age. It's amazing the extent to which people we do not know personally can touch our lives.

I still remember seeing this. I first heard that George passed away while i was still asleep. My sister called me & said that George had passed. It was on my mind all day. Seeing this that evening on the news cemented it for me. I felt like a zombie all day even at work. To this day it still doesn't seem real to me. But nowadays our world is so terrible i don't think George would've cared for it anyway. What's more important is that his music will live forever.

I remember the day I heard that George passed away. I was really sad and quiet most of the day. Also my great grandmother passed away close to that same week. I had just recovered from a very bad fever from the night before and the next morning I went into the kitchen to get breakfast. As I was in the kitchen, I was watching the television and the news mentioned the tragic news and I was shocked, and devastated. My dad too told me he heard the news I think on the radio at work. I'm saddened every time I think about the quiet and all-too-soon passing of this gentle musical genius...'Dubbed early on as "the quiet Beatle" - he lived up to that moniker pretty well... George was a kind and gentle soul, and he found happiness in his music, his family and his Hindu faith. Fate gave him more time than it gave John Lennon, his band mate an' longtime friend, but still not enough... I love all four Beatles, but I especially love George an' Ringo...the two unpretentious Beatles who had a humble an' genuine grace about their "second banana" status to the egos (an' talents) of both Lennon and McCartney... Shine on, George...your legend will long endure...'May your soul always know peace.

The Beatles had four distinct and creative personalities. George was unique and to millions, their favorite Beatle. The pop music business is brutal and not many would come back to have a #1 hit at the age of 44 like George did. Another one taken too young due to heavy smoking for much of his life. It was a dark year when fall rolled along, first with 9-11, then the crash of AA flight 587 and then George's passing at 58.

If it were not for the ultra phenomenal brilliant contribution to the perfect storm that was the Beatles. Those unique and energetic melodic chord changes of George Harrison that propelled the Beatles sound to the top of the world, then the Beatles would have just been a very good and famous Lennon and McCartney duo of really good songs and music like so many before and after them. Harrisons ingredient was the super essential spice that made it all so delicious. R.I.P. George. I hope to meet you in the someday of forever.

I remember when I heard he had passed away...I wore all black to school that day! When one of my teachers asked me why I was so sad and wearing black, I told her George died...she started crying and said; "What!? He died!? He was my favorite Beatle!" she just kept sobbing...the rest of that day we listened to Rubber Soul and cried....true story.

Highly underrated while with the Beatles. Which is crazy, because he was a great player and singer, with a unique voice, who wrote some all-time great songs. He was much, much better than he thought he was.

He died on my birthday, on my 5th birthday. I'd already been a huge fan of the Beatles and George was(of course still is to this very day) always my favourite beatle. I remember the next morning my dad told me about his death, it was just such a small portion of a newspaper. Tiny tiny portion. (I'm from Japan so that's why, even though the Beatles were huge in Japan too) But it broke my heart into pieces.
