Open and honest? This man knows EXACTLY how a corporate structure works...he's PRESIDENT of one! Saying the REVENUE the Big 3 made is all PROFIT, us dishonest. Saying the CEO paid HIMSELF a bonus, is dishonest. Saying they're not going to lobby for more anti-business bills to keep companies from surviving union extortion, is dishonest. Unions are organized crime, using intimidation and extortion to steal from successful companies. And the members are nothing more than cannon fodder, used by union thug bosses like this asshat to get more money for the union BOSSES.

I'm just adding perspective and passing along facts that can be found on line and in old contract books. My pay per hour as skilled trades in 2006 was at $34 per hour. Adjusted for inflation that would be $52 per hour today. At my current rate of $37 per hour I have taken a 30% pay cut. In 2006 GM CEO Rick Wagoner was paid $2.2M, adjusted for inflation that is $3.4M. Mary Barra makes $29M. 8.5 times more than the amount adjusted for inflation. My hourly pay would be $600 per hour if it was adjusted at the same rate as Barra's.

I was a Temp with GM and they charged me $125 union fees from my paycheck back in the 1990s but we had no UAW representation. A scam GM and UAW allowed for years! we were worked to death and if we were late ONCE we would be fired and the Temps would be let go before we could qualify for unemployment benefits. That is how they rolled then, I hope this guy fixes it now because it was abusive and both sides took advantage of people like me that just needed a job. Being hired as a Temp meant we had no benefits either but we paid the same fees as FT employees.

@@rangerguy25 I guess I must be dumb and did not argue with the assembly line foreman and union reps at the now defunct North Tarrytown, NY GM plant 1989-1991 I built the Pontiac Transport and Chevy Lumina. No, YOU don't know what went on, I was there, it happened to me and they did not like me because I raised hell about that. It happened EXACTLY as I told you, and this man is also stating there were abuses against Temp workers so that MIGHT just be a clue for you too. I would not argue with someone there and say they didn't know, had you been there YOU would have known it too. It was either take it or lose decent pay, so most of us took it. Where else would a 20-year-old back then net over $700 a week in 1989? So it was not a battle I won and as they did with all Temps, they just let me go after 6 months, wait another 6 and they would call you back to circumvent the labor laws at the time. I was there for 2 years on and off. In fact, I just remembered, the reason why the UAW did not object to Temps being paid less and doing the same job as FT workers was that they got their fees to shut up and it kind of makes sense when you think about it. Just try and remember I was there. This is not an anecdotal 3rd party tale. Remember the UAW strike in 2019? What was the main reason? The UAW did not want any more Temps, to protect "skilled labor". Though it happened later... How can you even argue the fact the UAW did not even want us there and they loved to charge their UAW fee for nothing for us. I sympathize with the UAW but back then they did not like us. I worked the Toe-in pit, struts, trim, and seat lines.

1990??!!! Damn you talking about over 30 years ago! Trust me, things have changed a lot for temps (for the good)! Don't get me wrong temps are abused, but they get insurance, get paid time & half any thing after 8 hours, they can miss a few days ..etc

@@rconley40 First, the actual strike on that was in 2019 (look up UAW 2019 strike) and the point is that it was happening then and all the way to 2019, so I don't know what else to tell you, Shawn brought "abuses to Temp workers". I made you aware of the ones I witnessed and that it was happening from 1990 to 2019. @@RachelHarper-ik3og Agree 100%! It doesn't make any sense for 1000's of workers to struggle so 15 people can live like Kings. It's the same problem with every company in America as they keep pushing workers into a position of a race to the bottom. I also LOVE the idea of 32 hour work weeks!

This is probably the best president of the Uaw has had for years. It’s about time somebody stood up to the auto companies instead of laying in bed with them.

This is our time to strike. If not now then never, an economist said the employees of the big 3 likely won’t find a better time then this and that this is the contract to get what we deserve
@dvdv8197 Жыл бұрын
Y'all are acting like UAW WANTS a strike no matter what. WRONG. If the Big 3 make concessions and simply offer them a FAIR contract, there's no reason to strike. But no, instead of that, Stellantis has proposed an unbelievable unfair contract, with even more concessions, even less assurances,... Strange how you don't point that out. Talking about throwing it in the bin and be outraged about that, but not be outraged about the CONTENT of that proposed contract. You're enraged about the WRONG thing, Sir! 😤😤

17:30 Great comparison and PROOF! 👍👏 If Unions had the power they had from way back when, Workers would get a FAIR wage and would be able to ENJOY life. They're all acting like these Workers should live to work. NO. They should be working to be able to live! Competitiveness, as Shawn pointed out, is also a thinly veiled euphemism for race to the bottom.

Why? I am not even going to ask you what makes you think knowing about the car industry prepares anyone to world leadership and I was a UAW member in Tarrytown NY (GM). I am in complete agreement with their struggle but instead of that you can support someone like Dr. West or Marianne Williamson, those are leaders currently running for President that agree with him. Keep in mind that the DNC will cheat and they will be painted as evil socialists but hopefully you can see past that scam.

Its sad the union voted that the membership can't make over $500 a week if they get a job while on strike

Lol let Ford have those white collar worker go operate the fork lifts and make a call to OSHA. Love to see the fines for all the unlicensed operators.

I with you but in reality the company supplies the license's. Can easily certify them. But fork trucks operators is the last thing there worried about. Try replacing the 150k uaw members.

Governments providing school children with food is governments admitting they know people aren't making a living wage. Corporations save money and the cost of school food is still on the taxpayers. To them it's a win / win + a positive marketing campaign for them.

The Big Three better realize they are not dealing with the old UAW Management style, now they have a President that states what the facts are and will represent his own UAW workers in a manner that is fair & equitable, he's the first President in a while that fights for his fellow workers.

I my self work for a supplier of the big three. We are currently working 12 hour days 7days a week,people are exhausted,and all the higher management get to go home to their families,enjoy their weekends off… I have no choice but to work those hours,it is all based on seniority,so a lot of the newer people get no choice.. I myself can’t work 12 hrs 7 days a week… I ended up in the hospital for two days so to working those kind of hours…
