Oh I am so glad I found this. We used to pick up my dad in the early 70s when he worked the graveyard shift and my mother would have to get us all up all 4 of us in our pajamas and bring blankets and pillows to put into the back of our old ford station wagon waiting for our dad to get off work in the parking lot of the old Merita Bakery in Charlotte NC so while we waited my mom would let us get to listen to this and boy was it so good and I remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for posting this.

me and my dad listened to this on the way back home after basketball on friday nights at central ymca in charlotte in 70's too. Some nights we'd stop off at the old krispy kreme on independence blvd. Good memories!

In the early 70's when we'd go camping at the lake, at night my dad would turn on the portable radio and we'd listen to these wonderful old shows. It was especially good on the nights it'd storm. Those times dad, Mom, and I would move from the tent and pile in the cab over camper on dad's old Chevy truck. I'd be snug in my sleeping bag, rain would be tapping on the roof of the camper, and the only negative is sometimes I'd get so relaxed I'd nod off and wake up when the ending music and sound effects came on. Dad's been gone 15 years, Mom is almost 80. These old shows sure bring back some cherished memories of simpler times.

Sounds like great times. I think we've all had times we wish we could experience just once again.

In December of 1973 I asked my parents for an AM/FM clock radio. This program premiered in January of the following year. I would lay in my at night the blue green glow of the numbers from my alarm clock dimly lighting my bedroom, listening raptly, letting my imagination set the scene. In January of 78 I moved to California, and couldn't find a station that carried this. Have missed this so much. Thanks for posting this... My all time favourite radio show ever.

Jerry Seinfeld once said there's something very pleasant about being at cemeteries and golf courses; nicely manicured, clean, outdoor settings.
