Used to lay in the floor at night and could not wait for these programs. Didn’t know anything that was going on in the house, just mesmerized in that world of the story. Didn’t have a tv. I’m 73 and my uncle bought the first one in town. People don’t know what they missed by listening to the radio back then. Thank you for taking me back. It is wonderful and I will listen to all you provide.

I have lived in the mountains most my life. It was off grid, the radio was the news, bush line mail for communition with neighbors and entertainment. We always tune into radio dramas, one was Mystery Theater. I still live in the mountains. It's wonderful to be able to tune in again to Mystery Theater. I always wondered why it was canceled.

I will never forget discovering this on late-night AM radio as a child in the 70's. CBSRMT, Quiet, Please, X-1, The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond & similar radio shows and TV series & the stories on which they were based & the myriad of media they spawned thrill/ed me! Thanks for posting!

I haven’t found many people that remember One Step Beyond! That was the eeriest half-hour on television. I used to watch every night during the week as mom would be getting ready for the 11-7 shift. What made it scarier was the fact that they were supposed to be true and sometimes he would have the people on that it happened to. I just got the chills remembering. Lol

@ChillySunshine - Thanks for uploading these great stories! I'm old enough that I was raised on reading for entertainment, even though I was a kid in the '70's and TVs were pretty much everywhere by then. Unfortunately, I was not aware of these great old radio programs back then, but I thoroughly enjoy them now. It's so interesting when you hear for example, that a person born in such-and-such year has never known life without computers and video games, etc. Can you imagine someone in the younger ages nowadays (kids and younger adults) shutting off their games, their music devices AND gosh forbid - their PHONES, and then sitting down and listening to a radio program for 50 minutes?! I'm hopeful that there would be a few that could manage it - and hopefully enjoy it at the same time - but I imagine (sadly) that the majority of them could not endure only one form of entertainment for that long. They may even considerate it a form of punishment or torture! 🤣

The radio jingle for the life insurance At 30:38 is so cheerful. I tried to find it elsewhere but I have no idea what they're singing. Life under rider? Life underwriter? Google has no idea what I'm talking about. I wasn't born in the 70s but I love old radio jingles. Wish I knew what this one was.

Fortunately I was. 😊 There were a lot of radio PSAs back then & this is simply one of those to remind folks to talk with their financial agent/representative; be it for loans, insurance, etc. Underwriting is an all but obsolete term for such. The jingles are indeed cute & catchy. Hope that helps U, Young Lady.

It is funny. Growing up in the Cold War era, i was genuinely afraid of Soviet Russia. It never crossed my mind that they may have been similarly intimidated by us in the USA. Still, that period of fear also gave me an obsession. As much as i feared the Russians, i also admired them, was fascinated by them in a way. Not that i would ever want to live in the Soviet Union, but i felt a kinship. Honestly, in these current days of random terrorism, i miss the luxury of having an enemy nation state as the bogey man. At least i know that the Soviets did not want nuclear destruction any more than we really did. We were just bluffing each other. There are a lot of people out there that want to use nukes -and they are not bluffing.

Far, far to many ancient COMMERCIALS left in! I just gave up. WHO is dumb enough to leave in 40 year old advertising?????

Hey moron, KZbin has a skip forward feature. You can skip by 10 sec intervals. Welcome to the 21st century. Some of us like the commercials for nostalgic reasons. There are popular KZbin channels that post nothing but vintage commercials.

The commercials are an an added of the shows and proof the commercials are not nauseating like they have been the past 20 years

Maybe someone can answer a question concerning likes or dislikes? If I give a thumbs up is that for The site owner of the show I am watching? I might not like a show and want to voice my opinion but have nothing against the site or it's owner. Just the video or show. It is really rare I give a thumbs down and do not take my choice lightly. But if a show has bad language and or is cussing Jesus I will nail the site to the cross in a heartbeat. Nothing on this site is pointed in that direction so no worries there...

Donthebaptist Estes , the reality is it doesn’t matter a bit what you choose.

@@kenamaro Thanks for the reply but could you elaborate? What is the thumbs down to reflect if it doesn't matter?

You would be the type to nail something to a cross over trivialities

Both. The thumbs up is for the show, but the visibility of the channel on KZbin will incresae the more thumbs ups it gets in total.

They also said that it made them feel super horny, like an aphrodisiac or something and the men said they got rock hard for days but were too weak to do anything.. That's the epitome of irony if ever I heard it.. 😀😀😀😀😀😀💪💪👅👃💋💀💀
