This is what they do. The do this on purpose!!! Why? Because the average person will get fed up with being so hot and just pay someone to fix it. So they use the STALL tactic. So the company doesn't have to pay a DIME out. personally, I think people are foolish to get these warranties. They usually have clauses in them so they can pretty much deny claims. Plus if people figured out what they pay a month especially for car warranties, they can just bank that money and have it if they need it. They go a year with no problems, they just threw 12 months of payments out the window. The STATE Governments need to regulate these companies and have a provision that if they haven't sent someone out to do the repair in 3 days, you can go and hire someone and the company MUST reimburse the customer the FULL amount with 30 days of repair completion. Trust me, they will get people out before 3 days.

The same thing happened to me years ago with Home Shield. They came out and had the audacity to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my ac, that it was the make and model of the ac that was not any good. They would only add some coolant. Mean while my home was 90 degrees. Another time in the middle of winter my furnace went out, they came out assessed and did not have the part and it would take another 2 wks to get in. Ok, I waited and then received a call stating that they ordered the wrong part. So it took them an entire month to fix, what I later found out was a $10 part which only took 15 mins to replace. And while waiting an entire month to get my furnace up and running again, they did give me a $30 certificate to purchase a space heater. Home warranties are a scam. They claim they “cover” items; but if something goes wrong, you still 1) have to pay a service fee for them to send someone else and 2) you have to pay the contractor for certain things such as Freon, because the warranty company will only pay a certain amount per pound and that amount is nowhere close to what Freon goes for 🤣 if they were honest they would state that they save you some $ on your repairs because when someone says “cover” something that typically means the costs.

I had an AHS Warranty on a condo I purchased in Ohio. Within one month the heat went out, bad blower motor. They refused to cover it because “the system was not properly maintained”…again, I was there less than a month. The copy of the warranty they sent me was different than the one I was given at closing; the one at closing said it covered it, the one I got in the mail didn’t. So I paid the $400 repair bill and two months later it went out again, I had to prove I had the repair done earlier before they would cover it. In the meantime I had no heat again. Since then, I refuse to pay for a home warranty and had to threaten AHS to cease any contact with me. I’ve been in the hvac field for 20+ years, my opinion, never get a home warranty. They have a set amount they pay the contractor. It is usually very low. The contractor they get is usually is usually not close by & probably not the best & needs work. Best thing for your units is maintenance. Check and/or change filters every 30 days. Buy the cheap thin air filters. Thick or pleated filters not good. Your unit needs to breath. Once a year checkup on heat pumps. Oil or gas furnace with a/c twice a year. They are like a car & needs to be maintained.

If you want a warranty to work, you have to harass them. Blow up their phones, escalate the situation, leave bad reviews. Get the media involved if you have to. Recently retired plumber from central Illinois. I did repair work for a smaller shop, 25 or so employees, 32 years with same. My experience with home warranty companies started 25 years or so ago. Back then it was everything was denied ; sewer backup- denied, water heater old and limed up- denied, anything outside foundation of house-denied, broken pipe behind furnace, you guessed it ,denied. I still had to go through the steps and call into the warranty company and have them deny the claim. Fast forward to 5 more years. Hated these warranty service calls, but things had changed a lot, now it was everything was covered, even outside the foundation of the house. Only problem was getting approval for a price with home warranty, sometimes an hour on hold. And of course they would try to nickel and dime you on the cost. It got to be a big head ache and I finally turned it over to the office personnel to call the home warranty company after I had made the inspection. By this point in time we were working with several different home warranty companies. For the most part, we would collect the deductible, usually 100 dollars or less. The secretary was getting 2 hours travel pay for all the out of town travel and our company estimator was playing hardball with estimates. Come to find out, no other service provider would or could afford to wait 90 to 120 days for payment from home warranty. So the company I worked for pretty much had a monopoly on the surrounding cities. And I might add we did a good job

Warranty companies? I bought one extended warranty on a vehicle once. It was a big waste of money. It required that they do the regular maintenance. I did better quality work than they did! How can you Fk up an oil change you may ask?

The whole warranty, guarantee, 100% satisfaction is all one big lie. Scammers and read the fine print scam. I call their technician the next day to test them. No show, no pay their bill.

I get offers for a home warranty. Don’t need them since I’m a licensed contractor with subs at my disposal. I basically fixed everything in my house, my rentals and my family members and some friends. Everything but deep sewer work and roofs.

At least they fixed it. I have Home Warranty and I called them to fixed my refrigerator. They said they will send someone few weeks later their service don’t have anyone in my area and told me to call sears or someone that can service my area because they don’t have any. My food has spoiled so I purchased one small one from Home Depot but the refrigerator don’t work. Tried to reach out Home Depot but no one came and no call. Tried to stop my warranty but told me that they will send someone but no one came to this time.. the company is called Residential Warranty.

They are thieves and scammers too.

of course they will get the cheapest contractor they can get. and the reason why no reputable company wants the warranty company business is they drag it out and try to chip down the costs or just ignore invoices until they get a discount or you give up and take the loss, they want to maintain their profit cut.

It's not over. I recently ran across a home warranty A/C service call that told their customer/insured that freon/refrigerant is not a covered item. Besides a bad capacitor, that would be the second item on a technicians list to do once the problem was found, recharge or service the existing charge of refrigerant ! I've heard a recharge is around $600 to $800 by itself however, a waste of money if the system has a leak of any kind.

Good for you Kristi! 👍🏽👏🏽However, I would still kick that home warranty company to the curb. Do you want to go through this type of hassle every time a house issue comes up? And you know they will. Or at least switch to another company.

I’ve had home warranties twice in 15 years. I have NEVER been satisfied with either of them. Too many reasons to list, but they have never been reliable for me. I’ve only had to rely on them on two occasions, but the last one took several calls and 3 visits before the repairman told me its been his experience that the warranty company I was with at the time RARELY ever replaced defective appliances, at least he had never seen them do it. I stopped purchasing their plans after that.

Get rid of them. Usually paying more for service calls through them.

Been there done that... same company.. they never fixed it.. and I had to come out pocket.. $6k for a furnace & ac unit.. yet every 6 months they send mail asking me to renew with them... it cost less just to save up the money.. Temps here -18 in winter / 100+ every summer..

I have American home shield and its been about index of 108 F. My ac has been out for about a month and they replaced it with a lemon. Now I am waiting till next week to hopefully get it fixed or replaced.

Yep, I had AHS until they made me wait over two weeks to get someone out to work on my AC. As soon as they fixed it I cancelled my account and never looked back

It's funny that this popped up in my feed today. I called my appliance warranty company this morning because my outdoor AC unit stopped working. My appliance warranty is through my electric company, so I feel like they're more legit. They told me the AC repairman will be out tomorrow morning to see me. I wouldn't tolerate having to wait for the heat index to reach deadly temperatures for them to act. That's just crazy. She needs to cancel her monthly payments and find a better company.

Just curious why your calling an appliance company for HVAC services?
@miguelberrios192 жыл бұрын
Many people have had similar issues with many of these home warranty's, and many more companies are coming due to it being a high profitable money pit. What I do is save a certain amount every month for ac repair or replacement, since that's the system more expensive to replace.

Issues with American Home Shield for me. Part of the same company. It can be hit or miss when you call for any kind of service. A few times I had to call back to get different people sent out when a job was not completed right the first time. Currently on the hunt for an alternative Home Warranty Company.

I have had AHS twice now. Outside of a few not so good service companies (that just did "band aid fixes") my issues haven't taken a week just to get a tech out to check things out. Sounds like the contract she signed for HSA gives that company a lot of latitude. AHS charges me a monthly fee & no locked in contract (it is a yearly contract) but I wouldn't pay the premium 100% up front.

I have the same model as she had, The warranty company sent someone out the next day. The problem was that my filter was clogged with white powder, from my humidifier' which cause a high heat error. My dish washer would not start due to bad switch, the warranty company sent someone out within a week, parts had to be order, 20 mins to fix. Same with my washing machine, bad error code. the warranty company had someone to call me to push the right buttons to get code off. All Warranty company's are not bad.

I own a Hvac company in Knoxville tn. They will make customers wait weeks to get a replacement and days up to a week on a repair. I typically make the repairs on site though.

Hello people. I work for a AC company in Texas. Please get your AC units and Furnace units tuned up every year. That way you are aware of the issues your AC may have before the unit breaks down on you and the tuneups also keeps your AC running efficiently.
@lambition2 жыл бұрын
this is typical of home warranty companies. I has similar issue many years ago. Only difference is contractor came out in about 3 days, then determined AC needs to be replaced. Took them month and a half to get it replaced.

This just happened to me same warranty we just purchased our home ! A/C Took a dump ! Called our warranty company they sent a service tech and this fool didn't even have a ladder to go on our roof ! I had to lend him mines he was up there for a few minutes and came down quickly guess what he said ? He told us he isn't certified to repair our particular brand of hvac ! I was furious 😠 😡.. 3 weeks later I kept calling them and the answer given to us was get your own tech pay out of pocket and if we approve it we will reimburse you .. I sent them the quote for the repair ,didn't hear from them at all so I approved the work . Funny part is the service company told us the same thing we don't work with warranty companies.. Friday afternoon came by and all of a sudden the insurance sent a service tech didn't even bother to call us for a heads up .. I had to cancel the work order I was going to pay my self ! And finally these guys fixed our A/C it's been in the hundreds here thank God it's working only took close to 2 months...

I have owned multiple homes and rentals over the years. I have had those home protection plans on two of them. Both provided by the realtor. Both times it was HSA. Each time the home had an issue with the HVAC. Each time they came up with a reason why it wasn't covered. These companies are a rip off. I had a warranty on a car when I was younger and it was the same thing. The only reason she got satisfaction was the news. If a company came out they would have found a reason not to pay. Their favorite is your system is under sized for the square footage of the house. I told them they should inspect the house to make sure the items are covered before they sell a policy they will not back. Scam, scam, scam.

Get your roof lined with solar panels, generate power & keep the heat away. Use cross ventilation and a pedestal fan aimed inwards such that the rear sides are pulling in fresh air from your windows.

We’ve had decent luck with First American Home Warranty. Select Home Warranty was abysmal. We finally had to report them to the Attorney General for our state to get them to pay us what was owed and let us out of the contract. When we even dug deeper online, we found gobs of people who had similar experiences.

Choice is treating me the same way. Garbage techs and when I get approval to find me own tech, they short me almost $8000. I sent an email to the president of choice yesterday to see if that gets my situation resolved. I’ve had AC for four days out of the last month. 🤦🏽♂️
