I agree wholeheartedly. Except for the fact that not calling abortion what it is has the whiff of deception and is not actually hones. It may be that we're trying to soften the language but I don't think that's the right approach. Even as I agree with full access, I, and many other progressives, do not think that abortion should be first line of defence against pregnancy, which it seems to have become, and I wish a move for democrats to conduct some outreach, support, and education about vasectomies and other prophylactics would begin . It would prove good faith in reducing oppositional heat around the whole issue. Not failsafe of course, but the other methods, in the end, are not only more palatable, they are less costly, more easily accessed, and healthier in mind and body for a large percentage of women who may come to be involved at all in this process.

Your comment reminds me of people who point to a small percentage of welfare cheats and paints most people receiving aid with the same brush. Irresponsible. All of those efforts you wish were going on have been going on around the country. Most people want abortion to be a last resort. Way to undercut credibility for Democrats with misinformation. Right now Democrats are focused on the dire nature of the consequences of these bans as they should be. But hey, recognising that--recognising where we are in the moment--wouldn't allow you to suggest Democrats are dishonest and to fuzzy up the issue for people who are single issue voters. It stinks of both sides-ism when there aren't two sides. Sure, a good percentage of democrats think abortion should be legal for any reason (because people of good conscious can disagree on this topic) and that is NOT incompatible with wanting it to be a last resort. And your concerns would be less of a concern if we provided free pregnancy prevention (like free school lunches and tampons and pads). It's quite costly to prevent a pregnancy and blaming women who don't have the funds to maintain regular birth control is like blaming someone who can't pay for upkeep on a home when the roof finally leaks. (And easy to think it's actually not when you're privileged.) People are going to have sex. Women are going to rely on zero cost methods that fail at much higher rates. Women are going to be raped though not sexually active and therefore not on birth control. Young women in purity culture and in religious communities where out of wedlock babies are a disgrace who get pregnant are going to seek abortions.

She's beyond smart; she's brilliant. In real life I run into few people who are more intellectually capable than I am and it's generally a shocker. (Not tooting my own horn; it's just reality, and I accept that there are all sorts of smarts and people who don't share my kinds of smart have something to teach me and are smarter in some ways and so I approach everyone with an open mind and humbly learn from them because everyone brings something to the table..) The Democratic bench is filled with people who would blow your socks off, blow my socks, blow off almost everyone's socks if we met them in person. I've only seen Crockett condescend to the condescending politicians like Margie who thinks she smarter than everyone else in Congress and feels free to talk down to all of us. Crockett also gets that most everyone has something to offer. It's a shame Margie offers so little, as I imagine she might have been quite inspiring when working at the gym, which is not a criticism of people who work at gym or similar jobs. (I loved lifting weights when I was younger and would have happily worked at a gym; indeed, I was an attorney for the income, and a general love of the law, because my health demanded a sit down job. My favorite all time jobs were waiting tables and cooking in a restaurant and I would have tried my hand at owning a cafe or my own house cleaning business if my health had permitted because I loved being physically active back when my health permitted.) I'm just trying to give Margie some credit for something where some of her talents were likely on display.

I agree with you entirely. Rep. Crockett is one among the relatively small group of legislators who are able and happy to provide voters with clear explanations of complicated policy issues so that the greatest number of people can understand the basic yet multiple factors behind these decisions. I like how she is trying to find ways to get this information out using modern media technology. We need more extended interviews of this kind with legislators like Rep. Crockett and her colleagues Reps. Raskin, Rep. Porter, and Rep. Frost, among others, who also have excellent communication and explanation skills. Press conferences are not enough.

Kamala will need to be super ready for Trumps play book. We know his style. We've endured 8 long years of it. He will be on the offensive if she let's him. He will speak over her, try to prove that she is weak insignificant and a liar. He will distract,demean and gaslight. If she puts him on the defensive she may be able to grab the attention of the American people but she must be very strategic with her messaging. Some of the qualities that Jasmin has I wish Kamala had. For example not being afraid to call Trump a liar right to his face several times and giving the proof. The biggest talking point will be the border crises and the assistance in Ukraine though.
