If fire personnel are having to do more work...after UNENDING days fighting these fires for over a week now...are having to do MORE work helping people get to their pets that they had TWO WEEKS OF WARNING to evacuate, then they have to adjust their priorities. I'm am an animal lover like you. Often, I think the animals deserve rescue and when most of the people don't (because they're irresponsible, arrogant beings who didn't heed the two-week warnings)...but we don't put firefighters in more danger to save animals lives over their own.

I am an Australian who lived in LA for two years, in the late 80s early 90s, and I am thoroughly horrified by these fires. I live in Victoria, which has very frequent and deadly bush fires, and despite the high death tolls possible (175) I have never seen anything which has moved me more. The well known streets, which I associate with suburbia, have been more than decimated, with entire blocks burnt to the ground. Sunset Blvd and Hollywood Blvd, are not in the bush, or even surrounded by bush, and yet they were ravaged. My emotional upset almost brought me to tears. For the many good friends I knew while I lived there, god bless you, and keep you.

What's even crazier is a lot of the people who literally lost everything, as in their home was burned completely to the ground, will just keep on living in the same general area. Some needed correction to misinformation: the funding that was cut in Los Angeles was due to the lack of approval by the very people that are blaming the governor and mayor. Besides, budgets are not permanent, so when unexpected things happen, they are added to the budget and paid as needed. They have already added more to cover this devastation. Also, the CalFire forces have DOUBLED since 2019 when the current Governor took office, and California now has the largest aerial fire fighting force in the country. Another correction: the reservoir that was not filled was drained for maintenance during January because normally that is the LEAST likely time of year to expect wildfires, so the best time to do maintenance, but, because of the CLIMATE CHANGES that you people don't believe in, we haven't had rain here in LA since last May, so the ground was dry during a time when it SHOULD have been wet, but because we all drive cars and use plastics, our weather continues to change. So the dry ground IN WINTER, along with the UNPRECEDENTED winds caused this. Next point: the hurricane force winds made it impossible to use air support to fight the fires. If you don't know WHY this is so, Google it, if you can't figure it out easily. Next point: the water running dry was due to the fact that it takes pressure to get water out of the tanks and UPHILL, pressure that decreased as the tanks empty, with water being used to fight 7 fires AT THE SAME TIME, 2 of which are huge. The water pumps needed to pump more water into the tanks run on electricity that had to be shut off so that the hurricane winds wouldn't cause transformers to go down, sparking and causing MORE fires. GLOBAL WARMING that we ALL contribute to, and the politics you are not recognizing, caused the nightmare conditions that led to all of this devastation. If you don't know what you are talking about, research reputable sources first, or stop adding to misinformation that is not helping at all! Stop politicizing everything! You politicize simple masks to protect YOU from illness, you politicize massive unprecedented fires that NO fire department could ever have fought successfully within a short amount of time. You people need to stop being selfish, defensive, and hateful, and use your brains and hearts! I am retired from the FAA as an air traffic controller. When a controller is involved in a mishap and any fault is found with their actions that caused the loss of life, then the FAA gets sued. I don't understand why there is not mass lawsuits being filed against the gross incompetence by the city's mayor, fire chief , governor and other city agencys.

Not being able to manage escorting residents to retrieve pets and remaining belongings is just pathetic leadership. Psychological damage is being done to them now as well as everything else. I hate to make this point... but as a person born and raised in Southern CA.... the greed has been out of control for a long time, none of this crime is surprising - NOT saying it's right or justified. Just pointing out, there was a lot already toxic with CA and the greed. All over the country there is a lot of imbalance with poverty and greed. The people setting these fires are probably victims of this system, full of sickness - I hope they get caught. We still need to recognize the truth while this is happening. Maybe all the "Luxury Housing" that pushed the CA economy into the ground, all the RV's onto the streets... maybe they should step up and accommodate those who just lost their homes and be forced to DISCOUNT their profits in the name of GOODNESS for once... What I don't get is that authorities are not sure what started this chain of events. Why? There is a time line easily looked at. Where and when and by who was the first fire reported. You don't just walk past a fire for a day or two and not notice it. Someone had to have reported a fire when it was still small . 911 call. Where and when and by who, was it first reported? The electric company also has a where and when record of any grid interruptions. Not to hard to figure out .

Here’s a suggestion… get the migrants who are not working, sitting in free housing and shelters while receiving state benefits to help with the clean up, debris removal, rebuild and forestry cleanup in the areas not burned yet. Let them earn their stay in your state. Make it a law that if they are able bodied and aren’t willing to help, they can’t receive any state benefits. There’s so many people not working and receiving benefits in California who can work maintaining the forests.

Tell me, when there are hurricane force winds taking down transformers, what is the main risk? That they will spark more fires, so the electricity in those areas had to be cut in order to prevent MORE possible fires, so there was no electricity to power the pumps. It was a painful catch 22 caused by GLOBAL WARMING induced DROUGHT in WINTER, and UNPRECEDENTED HURRICANE level winds that caused this hell scape.
