I Live next to the four corners of Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. I am originally from Connecticut. Most people in the US have NO idea what conditions that most Native Americans out west live in TODAY. My heart goes out to some of the most kind hearted & spiritual Native American people and their families! I've visited some of the reservations and national parks on the reservations many times. The Native Americans welcome you with kindness. I have witnessed first hand the living conditions that many families live in- No running water, No electricity or even the funds for much needed repairs to their homes. Many of their animals die due to lack of veterinarian care. Think of them having to share the same water sources, limited places to get food or with little to no proper medical facilities! The Navajo nation needs everyones help!!
@karibennett58474 жыл бұрын
You are correct. I do not live there but I have lived in WV and Louisiana both having rural areas-it is a difference of basic needs! Foods, water, shelter, electricity-just like third world countries and then education. All and repeat ALL humans have to learn first and once human animals are taught how to do things they can perform them. Teach how to and why viruses and bacteria spread. And just as the farmer is teaching his family and others to grow from the lands again and become self-sufficient(did you see his skin by the way??? wOw glowing! 18:40 ).

@@carolinerowles5951 Alot of the isolation is self imposed an preferred because we are nomadic people but the distance does cause problems because most essentials are in cities located at border towns an that is a major obstacle during a pandemic. We are always at odds with the gov to uphold the treaties made,its like a never ending tug of war with red tape, as indicated by the lawsuit against the gov to rightfully have access to our covid relief. Along with a pandemic we have been dealing with a rising epidemic of addiction, domestic violence and missing/murdered native women an girls (mmiwg). I am an advocate for these urgent issues an I'm relieved there's more awareness but more needs to be done too protect the sacred. @jayjohn97074 жыл бұрын
No my friend our Na Ba Ho language is nothing like any other native language that your trying to compare, example to describe blue, green, bruised, green pastures, blue sky and jewelry, we have one word for all those words so it was hard for the United states of America's enemies to break that codes, all other languages like yours were easy for our Enemies to break the codes ,and your opinion about Aztecs and ect. That you think they lived in the four corners is inaccurate because the petroglyphs tells otherwise the only one that was around that area was Anasazi and they traded back and forth with the Aztec, Mayan and ect. If you want some knowledge on this go visit Chaco canyon that's one of the main places they did trades and the Aztec brought chocolate to trade there and the NaBaHo covered the whole southwestern of the United states and the NaBaHo (Navajo) didn't build permanent houses to live in one place, they move around with the season's to hunt and plant gardens . For your knowledge the word NaBaHo comes from the Anasazi which means field people and it's being pronounced wrong and the only Anasazi left are the Acoma .Walk around the petroglyphs and you'll see that the Spaniard didn't bring the first horse ,goats,sheeps and ect.like the books and university says and ofcourse most important of all is your elders.

Has not managed to provide a water system to all households; yet they persevere and endure, trying to preserve their culture and language for their children. We, the regular Americans, the usurpers and murderers are responsible for the bad faith of our ancestors and the marginalazation of these people by more recent administrations. Abandoning them during this national tragedy is just the latest of betrayals. Everyone with spare gloves (I have a boxful bought for me by my daughter) or spare masks or spare anything should send them to the Council House of the Navajo Nation. It is little enough to do. I visited antolop canyon in 2018, saw even this famous attraction don't have running water in the restrooms. Unbelievable. I have also visited the Sahara twice in 2 different dunes. The Berber learned to grew vegetables in the little oasis and built tents for tourists to experience the beautiful Sahara. They have many solar panels in the Sahara and different parts of the country. I wish more funds can be available to change the situation for the first citizen of America

Please my Navajo people...let's stop eating the fried and fast foods. Let's grow our own gardens again and let's raise our own livestock. Let's eat and live healthy through exercise and activity as our ancestors once did. I'm so proud that we have a leader who is eager to pray and ask for God's guidance.

Deep Thinker Cool, cool great idea. Where should the water come from? They had some fertile lands but those were taken by “treaty” at gun point. Don’t forget the livestock need grass and water too. Please don’t act like this is a meal choice in a cafeteria.

The reason Navajo Nation is hit hard with covid-19 is because everyone loads up the whole family and the dog too and comes into hard hit cities everyday and spends grandma's and grandpa's checks and even money and food stamps the US Govt helps with .. Navajo Nation Govt has the money they choose to hold on to it and spend it on themselves that's why you'll see everyone who works for the NN Govt drives the expensive rides you need to look into that too..

@Blob Monster you missed the point he said "they" as in all native Americans have casinos. Some how you think this means native Americans are being "forced" to "stay on the Rez and live in poverty"

I’m an ICU Nurse here in Albuquerque, NM which is the closest city with the acute care available that’s needed and it’s been unbelievable how many Navajo and Pueblo people have not only come in with COVID-19 but extremely sick. I’m confident in saying that it’s been 10 Covid-19 positive Native American patients to every 1 person Covid-19 positive thats of another race. We’ve had whole households pass; mom and dad as well as the kids. It’s extremely sad. I’ve never seen such sick patients that are not recovering or taking forever to recover; it is unfathomable. My heart goes out for them. I’ve grown in my understanding of the Navajo and Pueblo people’s culture which I’m grateful for, I just wish it was in a different way. Our youngest COVID-19 death was 18 years old and the patient died because the media force fed them that it was guaranteed to die if put on a ventilator...sadly that was the only thing that could save them. These media outlets must make sure they’re educating properly and reminding people of who to listen to. Many have died because they decided to listen to hear say rather than the best practice. Much love to the Native American people! I’ll admit I was ignorant to the culture and understanding of the Native Americans and allowed stereotypes to lean on my judgement. I was so wrong...I’m ashamed that it took this to open my eyes. I’ve always envied the culture and many things but after seeing what they’re going through and learning the true past I was hurt for the First Nation people. There’s so many great documentaries that expose the truth about how they have been truly oppressed ever since the Americas were discovered. My prayers and thoughts are with all of the First Nations.

Thank you for covering this issue. People tend to forget what they don't see. Native Americans are not to be forgotten nor left alone. I pray for our Nation to no longer be so divided and that we come to understand that unity will be our strength, and our trust in GOD will be our salvation.

@CBS News THANK YOU for doing this!!! I have wondered deeply, in thought & prayer, HOW the virus even effected this desolate, distant, isolated place of great sadness & great happiness. If an already quarantined NATION OF PEOPLE get infected, what, WHAT, does a mask & 6 feet of separation even prevent or even do for us. These are our First People, they lived just down the road from me for 18 years, I will ALWAYS help them, honor them & love them!
