Ann Lowe designed Jacqueline Kennedy's wedding dress, but her name was never mentioned in the society pages that gushed over the event. Lowe also designed dresses for major stars and helped shape American couture. Now, a new exhibit is working to make sure her impact is properly remembered. Michelle Miller reports.

This show deserved to be in NYC, imo, at the Met.

I learned about Ann Lowe at the Museum of African American History in Washington DC. So elegant, she and her designs.❤️

My mom's wedding dress is at 2:16. Lowe designed and made it for my mom's debutante ball, then she wore it a few month's later for her wedding. Such an honor.

of course the name of the Black designer and seamstress was left out of the society pages in the 1950s 🙄

“Forgotten” is quite a passive choice of words. Can you think of a more accurate descriptor, CBS? Because I can.

A tad exaggerated. Lowe's name may not have been known at the time of the marriage but was very well-publicized after Kennedy was elected President.

Actually, she wasn't mentioned in the papers at all while all others who contributed to the wedding were and all fashion designers of Jackie were too, except Lowe.

Oh ya....sure.....the lack of displaying and recognizing this designer is an injustice. What a bunch of BS. This reporter needs to wake up. There are so many real injustices going on right now that are out in the open and in front of our faces that are way more important than this story....that isn't being addressed appropriately. The examples are endless. Lastly, that 2-tones dress this reporter is wearing is quite the injustice all in itself.

If you weren’t able to understand this particular story, it was speaking particularly of the injustice pertaining to the lack of credit and equality the Miss Lowe received as a master seamstress. Sadly, this was a common occurrence that took place to African American’s that excelled at their crafts during her era. If you are unaware of this fact, you are the one who needs to go out and do some research as she definitely did NOT receive the accolades, pay or respect that other credit that White fashion designers received in the 60’s. And for that matter, Black designers who are at the top of their game still do not receive equal representation. So, why don’t you use your negative energy and go and hate on another site.
