Razor wire strung along the Texas shoreline is NOT an example of enforcing laws we already have. First, Texas has no mandate from the Feds to do this -- immigration is a Fed job. Second, the actual border there is in the middle of the Rio Grande, not its northern shore. So legally speaking Texas has no right to stop them at the shore, since they have already entered the U.S. at mid-stream. That kind of yee-haw vigilante-style behavior might be expected from Texas, given its governor and attorney general, and the "what? who? whuzzat?" reaction to Uvalde and the ensuing coverup.

Walls don't unless you have a guard at least every mile along the wall. Razor wire? Sure, that works anywhere, especially in concentration camps -- which it was invented for. It catches people's clothing hair and bodies, they trip, get slashed but it still holds, fight it until they sink down, exhausted, into filthy water. Typical deterrent -- for a third world country. If Texas wants to build their own wall, and patrol and maintain it, "Wale, Hale, whah naht?" Of course, all it takes to get over that wall is an extension ladder and a piece of rope to shim down on the other side -- 30 seconds up and over. You'd need a guard every mile or so on flat land, and as close as necessary to see one another on rougher terrain. Maybe with orders to shoot if yelling "Stop!" doesn't work? (Of course, Texas would like to set up motion-detector-activated machine guns, so no patrols needed.)
