Yes. Perhaps he doesn’t have CTE. It can only be confirmed post-mortem (via autopsy). Perhaps he had a stroke instead. Sometimes it’s difficult for a definitive diagnosis of stroke if it’s a TIA. I’m just guessing & only surmising since the report said that his symptoms got suddenly worse 2 years ago in 2022 when he was 68 years old.

This is a mix of both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Sad that he is going through this but I enjoyed hearing John's memories and story. I remember seeing him on KDKA all the time. I also fear that I may have CTE from a variety of traumatic head injuries when I was younger.

Although not knowing technically what CTE was, but known about years ago especially with boxers is the reason that I would not allow my son to play football or any Contacts sport in high school. Apparently this kind of problem is cumulative. Repeated blows head show up in boxers and as an example I'll use Mohammed Ali, and certainly football players because you can see the foolishness that they get involved in after retiring. Like throwing their furniture off of their deck about 10 stories up in Pittsburgh at a high-rise.

How about childhood abuse by parents. Hitting us on the head hard and hitting us so hard we end up on the floor or hitting us in the face and ur head hits a protrusion like the old light switches on the wall. All of which happened to me. Also an extremely heavy lead crystal bowl being thrown and hitting my forehead where I had a huge lump on my forehead.

This is one of the oddest news coverages that I've ever seen. Starting with the "suspected CTE" from the doctor. Wish JB the best, but I don't love the narrative if I'm being honest.

What? His family doesn't love the narrative either! And CTE can't be confirmed until an autopsy.

Perhaps he had a TIA (a stroke that can’t be known definitively since it’s a temporary blockage) or perhaps he has CTE, but if it’s the latter, then it can’t be diagnosed until after death (because CTE can only be confirmed via autopsy).

Tell them to look into hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It's showing lots of promise for brain trauma. He can go to a clinic, but for what they charge, it might make sense for him to look into buying his own chamber. For less than $40k, he can have his own hard chambered (important) unit delivered to his house, and use it as much as he needs. That's less than the price of most new cars these days.

@@agua9999 According to the Boston University CTE Center, CTE has been found in 345 out of 376 deceased former NFL players' brains including Junior Seau, Chris Henry, Aaron Hernandez, Ken Stabler, Frank Gifford and Bubba Smith among others. Living former NFL players reporting symptoms consistent with CTE include Jay Cutler, Tony Dorsett, Boimer Esiason, Brett Farve, Mark Gastineau, Bernie Kosar, Jim McMahon, Joe Namath, William "The Refrigerator" Perry, Warren Sapp and O.J. Simpson aming many others. I think football should be outlawed given all the proof of horrific damage it has caused these players. Imagine what it does to kids.
