This story scenario reminds me of the day I was made redundant. I gave RCA 32 years to that company and an escort out the door. I was 58 years old, to old to get another job and too young for retirement. However there was light at the end of the tunnel. I found a dream job in academia doing research in Plasma Physics. I loved it so much that worked to the age of 70., then retired.

Love this episode. His wife was very supportive and I think that the story proves sometimes you just have to ask if you need help.

I too am a late night listener. The radio programs are better than TV. I only need one sense and my imagination to enjoy the terrific story telling. To think they were still on in the 1970's. Today's AM Radio Spectrum is a vast wasteland.

@@erin19030 70’s?! Bahahahaha! My local FM country radio station in Canada played CBS Mystery Theatre 5 nights a week for decades. Right up into the 90’s. It was practically an institution. Played every weeknight right after the local late night news at precisely 11:06 p.m. We ended every day with the show. It was late night toast and tea while listening to the final local news recap on the radio and then CBS Mystery Theatre would come on and usher us all off to sleep. I grew up listening to these filtering out of my Grandparents open bedroom door every night. It was a magical time.

Some guy in England actually did exactly the same in real life after being laid off. Pretended to go to work every day, because he was frightened to tell his wife and kids...

Really? Some actors on this show also did some of the writing??

Mary Jane Higby, Ian Martin, Arnold Moss all wrote for CBSRMT and acted as well. There are also a couple of episodes written by Bryce Bond in which he also acted.
