How can you simply destroy this important building for a bland tower block?

Why can't it be a theater and Housing since the plan for housing is so big? is Multi-use buildings not a thing in Berkeley?

Oh hell noooo....😮 So what about historical building??? That's ridiculous.... I'm sure there are a lot of buildings available in San Francisco that are abandoned.Go there.

Keep the facade, build the housing. I'd rather this site be homes for people, not a derelict historical relic for decades to come.

That lady at the end is correct. Berkeley used to be iconic looking. Soon, it will look like any boring cookie cutter build.

Did you see the building design? Like what?! lol It meets iconic look

The theater was not "beloved" enough to stay in business....... If this guy wanted to save the building, he should of bought it. its crazy people think they have the right to someone else's property. These are the same kind of people who shout at you from their porch if you accidently step one foot on their lawn. Cranky crotchety people with nothing better to do. Cities change and grow, there are tons of new successful businesses that are thriving!

If you can't support your homeless in your city you should build some affordable housing .

It is too late for anyone who does not own the land. These representatives you voted for thank you for allowing them to do as they see fit. And they will make every decision based upon the ability to remain in office. How many elected leaders live in the immediate vicinity of any major redevelopment? It is up to the elected leaders to decide what is best for the whole city, despite what the immediate local residents say.

I’m currently 20 and I care about the theater. I was born and raised in Berkeley, my dad was born and raised in Berkeley, my grandma was born and raised in Berkeley about the time this theater was opened - we all care about preserving the soul of Berkeley.
