Most likely ownership! It's normally ownership that fires coaches and GMs because their contracts are outside the Salary Cap which the GM oversees. Staff salaries are paid directly out of Ownweships bank account, even after firing someone.

@ you didn’t watch the game. Detroit was about to score and fumbled inside the 10 when they would’ve been up 23-0 not to mention the missed FG. They dominated the game with reserve players all over their defense. Even IF the Bears hit a long field goal with Santos(not likely)they would have had to win a coin toss and scored a TD to win it. That wasn’t happening MOST LIKELY(like I initially said)based on the Lions being the best team in football and the bears having a losing record.

This really starts at the top. NFL teams are a public trust. The Bears organization has fumbled the bag as they do year after year. Remembering back to Mike Ditka and Buddy Ryan who were forces to be reckoned with and to me seemed like the type that were going to do what they wanted.. That was the last time the bears were great. IDK what's going on inside the organization. So many years of inefficiency and disorganization. Sometimes too many chiefs make a mess of final results. We have so many talented players that worked their butts off to get into a position to win games that have to go home wondering what the ---- too many weekends.

I read an article on ESPN saying the HC is responsible for developing Williams, then points out the improvement of Williams and his rookie record (omitted* under Eberflus). The nfl and it’s writers have a vested interest to skew public perception in the No 1 draft pick’s favor to manufacture interest and hype. Just like they did and continue to do with Bryce Young.

Blame the head coach all you want, he is one piece of the puzzle. The entire team played a sloppy unfocused game. There were other personnel on and off the field that could have called a time out but didnt. There were a truckload of coaches on the sidelines that could have ran over to the HC and told him to call a timeout but they didnt. You can not blame all the errors of the last 5 games on the HC. What the hell was Williams doing the last 5 games. Caleb, you are the leader of the team, take some responsibility for the loss or the failiure to execute effective time management. Eberflus may have been on the chopping block for the last 3 games but not for the season. Bears- do what is right and assume fault, ESPN cant protect you, no matter how hard they try.

Obviously there was a coaching and team breakdown occurring over the last 5 games. But there has to be some accountability to the QB position. Caleb could’ve managed that situation on the field better than he did. He didn’t start playing QB just yesterday!! He was the #1 overall pick in the draft for a reason…to be able to win games like that on his mental and physical attributes. That’s what makes him a #1 pick…right?!? He demonstrates a lot of good QB physical talent but not a lot of QB intelligent talent.

All that good feelings about Caleb being a QB evaporated quickly after that devastating Hail Mary loss. This just goes to show that "things can get horribly wrong after one critical mistake" in the NFL. The demise of the 2024 Bears won't be forgotten anytime soon. Thomas Brown got a lot of love for a couple of games, but it seemed like he was really struggling in this one. Two wasted timeouts in that last drive leads me to believe he wasn't getting the plays in quick enough. At least 3 times in the game the snap came with 00 on the clock. Yeah Ryan Poles didn’t hire Matt Eberflus, but last January he had a chance to move on from Matt Eberflus and rumors were circulating that the Bears should go after Jim Harbaugh who was drafted by the Bears and would be a great fit in Chicago, and Ryan Poles said “i chose him”.
