BTW, CC Cylinder DOES work in the comp 3-D camera space, unlike CC Sphere.

@@JakeInMotion I just used CC Cylinder to simulate camera moves inside a large curved LED wall. It is still confusing how the source height/width vs cylinder diameter relate to get accurate proportions though.

Please help. I'm trying to use CC Cylinder on a glass morphism layer to have blurred class cycle around a subject but CC cylinder doesn't seem to have an affect when placing it on anything with adjustment layers in it or when marking the layer with cc cylinder as an adjustment layer. workflow, creat glassmorphism effect, pre comp, bring to desired comp with character in it, apply cc cylinder, layer with cc cylinder become completely transparent with no effect on the layers beneath it. Please help, I hope this makes sense. I just wonder curved blurry glass to cycle around my character.

Hey Jake. I've noticed a problem using CC Cylinder . Steps: Makes some type > Use Motion Tile to animate the tile centre too make it loop > pre comp > Apply CC Cylinder.> Set the Plugin to display "Inside". Now watch the type as itmoves along and you'll see that it tears/distorts at the mid point of the cylinder. I've tried this with shape layers & bitmaps. Same deal 🥹 . Are you getting this, too? annoying as a project I was working on was going to use this heavily. Cheers!

Didn't know cc cylinder existed lol. I use sphere all the time for FUI planet hologram nerdery for my sci-fi stuffs. I was so excited when Orb came out but I never finished the tutorial to be honest. Whenever I need a super realistic planet I'll have another look but for my purposes cc sphere is a must!

Can you adjust the size of the cylinder without warping the actual artwork? Seems like this would be a no-brainer but I guess not? 🤔 Edit: I suppose this is why you split your comp in half for CC Cylinder, effectly changing the radius by adjusting the size of the artwork in the precomp?

Hey, I'm new to AE and trying out these effects. I'm trying to use the Sphere effect on a logo, but how do you have the effect play out and then have the logo resume its static state? Hope that makes sense..
@JakeInMotion2 жыл бұрын
I think I know what you mean. You want the sphere to flatten out? Unfortunately there's no way to so this with the sphere alone. It would need to be a combination of the logo using the sphere effect plus another instance of the logo using an effect like bulge or warp which would allow you to keyframe the distortion off.

I have a question about showing a flat image transition to a sphere or a cylinder. How would you achieve that? At the moment you pick and effect and hey presto it's a sphere, or it's a cylinder. Is there a way to make it morph into a sphere or cylinder so that we can see it morph?
@JakeInMotionАй бұрын
Not with either of those effects. You'd have to use something like Cinema 4D Lite and link it to AE using the Cineware plugin (all included with AE).
@micci2395Ай бұрын
@@JakeInMotion Thank you for that. Do you have any information on where to find Cinema 4D Lite or Cineware plugin? (I've looked through all the menus). I have Adobe 2021 Stand alone version.

@@JakeInMotion Thank you. I did check out your video, and I've subscribed to your channel because you've been helpful. Unfortunately, it looks very complicated and I don't know if I can achieve my goal with cinema 4d lite. Can I? (The full version is quite expensive for someone who doesn't need it for any other project). Unless you have suggestions...

Is there a way to cylinder-ize a layer horizontally ... or vertically? So it's rounded on the top and bottom instead of the sides?
@colepatterson56512 жыл бұрын
I don't know for certain, but I feel like this would work. It is involved though. 1) set your asset on its side in your default image program and save it that way. 2) import your asset and put it on the timeline 3) apply the cylinder effect 4) rotate the whole asset 90 degrees to get it faced back the right way. Again uncertain if that would work, but if it didn't, then I'd propose not doing step 4, then preconposing the asset and rotating the whole precomp instead and seeing if that worked.
