I was in the opera house, the soprano sings that aria. She was good, not -this good- but very impressive either way. I had a flow moment. It felt as if Mozart himself was talking to me. An exquisite performance. Diana Damrau doesn't just sing the part, she becomes the queen of the night. She's not 'listen how good I am singing a piece of music', she's: I want you to fucking kill the guy or you no longer my daughter! You feel the rage and you absolutely do believe her. What I find bizarre is that Mozart would write that aria in the full expectation that there would be a human out there who could actually do that with her voice. Blows my mind. How do you even convey the idea "this is what the aria is and that is how I want you to sing it." How do you even get started on that.

Exactly! And for me it sounds the notes are well timed cuz I've listened to other performances and some of them felt kinda rushed... Like they wanted to get over it right away. Diana took her time and made sure it was all on point.. Bravo.

It's still difficult and takes time to develop though. Even for a tenor singing falsetto in the fifth octave isn't always comfortable. Let alone doing these crazy staccatos

God she's amazing. I think what sets her apart from other Renditions I've heard is the way she switches between notes so effortlessly. And not only that but she is totally acting the part and her facial expressions are amazing I've heard other Renditions where you can clearly tell that they're switching between notes but not here

One of the most difficult arias to sing. Mozart was a genious and always deliberately complicated for his own artistic company. Diana Dumrauf understood Mozart towards perfection and here is a part of her vocal outstanding performance. Brillant !!!
