The CCB, Computer Controlled
Brake Equipment, a microcomputer based brake control
system for locomotives. 1 shows the architecture of the
CCB equipment.
The locomotive brake system is controlled by the operator,
through a two handled brake controller, the
required set-up switches for brake pipe
charging cut-off and feed valve The only direct control
of the train by the brake controller is the direct mechanical
venting of brake pipe to initiate an emergency brake
application. All other train braking is controlled by the
microcomputer.
The brake controller signals to the microcomputer the desired
command as set by the operator. This is by
handle position sensors. All handle positions are the .same as,
and have the same effect as, present 26L type brake
equipment.
There are four pressure control circuits found on the PCU.
These are:
I . Brake Pipe Control Circuit
2. Actuating Pipe Control Circuit
3. Application and Release Pipe Control Circuit
4. Brake Cylinder Control Circuit
