Haha brilliant. I couldn't stop laughing at the 'ennui tea-drinking sigh'. Well done for putting together the bit at the end.

I totally understand the impulse when it's a purely audial medium. If it's outside there's ambient noise, but interior scenes are either bedded or there are sfx like kettles and clocks. Other than that a radio play runs the same risk as every other program on radio, the dreaded dead air. I once worked for a station that stopped local broadcasting at 11pm and flipped to the BBC World Service till 6am. One night I was in late doing production and, for a laugh, I sat waiting for the hourly playing of Lilliburlero and the pips (five short dots followed by a long dash) leading into a newscast. I let the five pips go and on the long beep, I flicked a mic on and said, "Pooooo!" I half expected some repercussion, but nobody was listening.

Thanks - I've got the podcast with the abridgement, but I'd never heard the follow up 'ruftiness' - excellent thanks again. I'll be off, good with you!

They forgot the BBC drama pretending to take a gulp of wine / mouthful of food while talking sound effect. The horse doing a poo example was good, but maybe a bit hammy.........

I don't listen to it but I recently read a letter in viz which suggests that "stick it up your fucking arse" fits pretty well into the theme tune.

It is indeed crap... Compelling crap though for some weird reason. (I have to listen to talking on the radio because music on there is so shit these days)
