Yeah, it makes no sense that it would happen on the same episode. It shows how little planning was involved in laying out the storylines for the season. Ideally, Monica would've put their names down in several episodes earlier, maybe a bit after they moved in together at the start of Season 6, and the phone call would've been a much bigger surprise.

Maybe, they offered it to her because she was the most recent addition, and the other applicants didn’t want to move their wedding dates, since they may have already had their vendors booked for those dates.

Chandler didn’t pretend to not be interested in marriage until after he decided to propose. When he first heard the message he was still afraid to make a lifetime commitment but after giving it more thought he decided to propose.

The weird thing with this clip was...there was a 2-year wait list. Even if someone canceled, it wouldn't even be her...lol

they could have called everybody else on the list before her. If we assume that all those people had their ACTUAL weddings planned, not a potential one like Monica did, they simply refused to move it up because everything else was settled for the other date - guests, catering, etc.. so they went enough far down the list to reach Monica.

@@eliasshakkour2904 Actually that explanation works perfectly fine. It would be basically impossible to reschedule everything just because the venue became available sooner. Also, Chandler and Monica got married a year later so it was not so far down the waiting list that it was available right away.
