My school did this production and I’ve been missing being a part of this. I’m so glad to finally see something that I could actually enjoy watching again. Good job to whoever Joseph was

Outstanding performance, specially from a high school! There were no weak singers, they were all brilliant. The blocking and direction...I've never seen a better production--anywhere!

I just remembered that Joseph was one of my favourite musicals when I was in my late teens. I searched for the musical online and found this fabulous performance. Though it is already a few years old I thank you so much for sharing it and triggering so many wonderful memories. Everybody involved did a great job. I enjoyed watching it very much!

Some "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" history: The late Gordon Waller, of the 1960s British pop duo Peter and Gordon actually appeared in the role of "Pharaoh" (humorously interpreted as an Elvis Presley impersonator, and while Presley himself was still alive) in the first professional production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" (which ran only 35 minutes) in August-September of 1972, produced by the young Vic Theatre Company and presented at the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. In February 1973, the Young Vic production aired on Grenada Television in the United Kingdom. Theater producer Michael White and impresario Robert Stigwood staged an expanded version of the Young Vic production at the Albert Theatre in London's West End, where it ran for 243 performances in 1973. The first production of the show in its modern, final form was produced at the Haymarket Theatre in Leicester, and ran several times from 1974 through 1978. A large-scale production of "Joseph" at the Westminster Theatre, London--which ran from November 1978 to February 1979, and again from November 1979 to February 1980--starred Paul Jones (original lead vocalist of the British pop group Manfred Mann, whose big hit was "Do Wah Diddy Diddy") as "Joseph" and renowned film and stage actor Leonard Whiting as "Pharaoh." Whiting famously portrayed "Romeo" in the 1968 Franco Zeffirelli-directed version of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" co-starring Olivia Hussey, still regarded as the best filming of that classic work about the star-crossed lovers from feuding families, with its stars still the only to date in a film of the work to have been age-appropriate to the roles--Hussey 15 years old and Whiting 17 years old at the time. The Young Vic "Joseph" was recorded for an LP released on the RSO label in 1972. Another recording of the full musical was released on the MCA label in 1974, again featuring Waller. This is the earliest recording of "Joseph" to be released on CD.

What a joy and such talented young people - Most of all the sound recording in this production came through and you could hear the words VERY CLEAR. God knows I've watched about a dozen other productions with lousy clarity where you could barely understand the words.

I've seen quite a few versions - including professional ones - and this beats them all. It's the wonderful joyful exuberance that makes the difference, combined with the great singing, costumes, staging, etc, etc. The clear diction is wonderful too - so important in this musical - and even when the excellent eleven brothers are singing at once, you can almost always make out every word.

I just mixed and uploaded our middle school production, then decided to check-out other KZbin versions. Wow! This is amazing! Speaking from the videography/Audiography stanpoint, whomever mixed this dig a fabulous job. You really put your skills on display. From the performance aspect - I find it hard to believe this is a high school production.Great job bey everyone involved -a true team effort.

This is BY FAR, the best production of Joseph since the original Broadway production. I'm beyond impressed with the set, costumes, music, and especially each and every single performer. Joseph is outstanding, the narrator is likeable and makes the story easy to follow, the children are great, and the brothers are amazing. Each and every brother completely got into his role. I really can't say enough good things about this production. I just wish I had a chance to see it live.

I have already commented on this great production, but since have watched other school's efforts and while some are better than others, this one is stand out. I hope some of the performers went on to a professional career, they certainly display the talent, especially Joseph( I also saw him in Cinderella) The narrator and Pharaoh. E

Actually, the director also happened to be a professional costumer, which was a great asset to the program. He never liked the idea of renting costumes so avoided it whenever possible. A few of the things were borrowed from professional theater companies in the area, but most of the costumes were built by students with help and direction from the director/costumer. Designing and building costumes by students was done for all shows and it was pretty impressive. They did buy material, but got great discounts on that as well. They got good at their craft and were pretty proud of the work they did. A few went on to study tech theatre and costume design in college.

This is actually an edit of four different shows. We tried to stress to the actors the importance of doing everything the same way, but changes occur. I'm sure you can find more continuity errors if you look hard enough!

@@RHColo the interesting part is they did behave and do the same thing each time, just different clothes. Guess it's because most other recordings have specific clothing vs rehearsals. Still good!

I think the two best were definitely Joseph and the brothers. I thought the narrator was great but her voice wasn't vocally ready for the narrator. That is a HARD role to sing. I have a friend who was a narrator and she had horrible technique and had multiple voice cracks and was super flat.

Miss Saigon is borderline pornographic but high school productions censor that (obviously). i honestly don't think this production would have changed in the slightest if they had made them wear shirts. it just comes off racy y'know
