A mask I want to make for theatre is the mask of an insane person. The expression on the face is split between compassion and brutality. It shows the reality of people who really do have split personalities. I got the idea from criminology: Someone noticed that serial killers have two very different expressions on each side of their face. Few people have identical sides of the face. Put two photos of one Side of the face together and you get different faces. I have covered court cases as a news reporter where I saw people who had committed violent crims, and they had very conflicted personalities.

I read somewhere that men in booger masks would visit a house and scare a child, then remove the mask. I thought the mask was used then to try to heal a child who had been traumatized by a real human booger, maybe a child molested or a child frightened in some way by a settler etc. ???

Worst thing about being a Cherokee male is the receding hair line. Roger makes me feel better. My grand mother always got mad at us for trying to wear her gourds.
