+CptArmarlio because it's much more efficient, and can do a lot of things that windows does not. My point is that if CCP dropped their nasty python, dx and asp.net codebase for something much more reliable like C++ OpenGL/Vulkan, DPDK based packet proccessing, it would improve overall ingame exprience and remove many existing bottlenecks. It's practically impossible to proccess 40Gbit of traffic with a single node on windows, but it could be done on linux/bsd with DPDK, for instance. So, CCP should learn how to profile, test and optimize their products. There's a pile of bottlenecks and lagacy codebase (crap) in Eve nowadays, and There are so many things that could be improved.

+Yuriy Yarosh Only that rewriting a game with about 15 years worth of code base is more or less impossible. Well, it is possible but considering the devs dont even know anymore what a good chunk of the code even does. *cough* the POS code sausage *cough* They would have to stop ANY feature development and release for quite some time while rewriting the entire game. Or most of it alteast. Also all the performance intensive things like physics simulation, graphics rendering and all OS level interaction is written in C++. Only the games feature code is written in CCP Stackless python. And thats probably for some good reason. Also there is a OGL render available for EVE, it does have a Mac Client afterall. Though offering a OGL or Vulkan renderer would be a nice feature. And a linux client FFS...

I found this song through Rock Band. I listened to the lyrics and I actually thought it was about how violent the world has gotten with frequent terrorist attacks and ongoing wars.
