July 1970 - 5th LP in 2 years.
Chart Topper: 9 consecutive weeks #1 LP on Billboard 200
6 of 11 songs were singles each making the Top 5 of Billboard 100
Rolling Stone ranked it number 413 on its 2020 list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time"
The 2014 Release mastered by Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray has been considered the best pressing of this LP for a decade. I got a hold of the 1980 MOFI release to compare it.

I think the CCR albums were originally mixed/mastered/pressed for AM radio.

Outstanding album. My personal favorite track is "Ramble Tamble." The perfect opening track for an album. Thanks for sharing this treasure piece of music.

Hollywood pressings for CCR are where it is at for me. Although I usually do like APs work on rock, I think Steve and Co. mushed up the sound too much on the CCRs. I do think the old Mofi is well done, just think the Hollywood pressings nail the rockin compressed sound on this artist and band. Thanks David👍🏻🎸

Creedance is great, but my memory of the fair comes from AC/DC and Def Leppards "pyromania" ! Im a bit younger than you i guess, but it was 1983 i was 13 ! Seems with most people 13 is the age when your funest memories come, IDK!😊😅

Imo the AP and OG Hollywood press is all you need of this classic. Both sound different but great nonetheless

Vinyl Me Please recently included a magazine with their September releases featuring articles about their upcoming October selections, but it also included a not-particularly-informative, rather teasing schedule of upcoming releases that listed the November selection for their "Essentials" category only as "? (Genre: Classic Rock, Year of Release: 1969)". But then, the back cover of this issue consists of an unlabeled & unidentified photo of four individuals that fans of the group will instantly recognize as Creedence Clearwater Revival. So I strongly suspect that in another month or so there will be a new candidate pressing to put up in a new round of your Cosmo's Factory Vinyl Shootout.

@@DonHamlinthere's old tales that John pieced Doug's drums together cause he wasn't tight enough for John. Love Fogerty but he was definitely the captain and I could see him having done that.

First, the CCR recordings were most often mixed in a tight, narrow stereo, on purpose. They were more concerned with mixing for the mono singles. It all started with the original studio recordings. All instruments were arranged in what John Fogerty called "RCA style", which were arranged in a half-moon style, as if on a stage. So, the way they mixed the recordings were as if you were in front of them at a live performance. Some, like "Proud Mary" sounded more like reprocessed stereo. The first and only normal stereo mix was done for the Analogue Productions "Absolute Originals" 12" 45 rpm boxed set. I became a fan of CCR when I heard the "Bayou Country" album. I saw them in concert maybe 1970 and their opening act was Cold Blood(this was the first time I'd ever heard of Cold Blood, instantly became a fan, and with everyone else, fell in love with Lydia Pense). "Cosmo's Factory", which was the name of Doug "Cosmo" Clifford's rehearsal room(what most would call a 'man cave'). The album was my absolute favorite album of theirs, as I am a Top 40 type of person and the album was filled with hits. "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" was issued as a 7" single after the group had broken up, and It was their first, and maybe only, 7" single which was originally released in stereo. My OG copy of the album slipped out of my hands when I was putting it back on the shelf, hit the floor and shattered like a 78. Luckily, I had already digitized the album so I have an excellent copy. Fantasy records were pressed by RCA at the time, on standard heavy and stiff vinyl(later they were pressed "Dynaflex"). OG CCR albums are hard to find out in the wild, especially "Cosmo's Factory", and if you find any, they are priced like they are made of gold and/or thrashed. I have re-issues of "Cosmo's Factory", including the AP 200g version when they were learning how to press records at their new QRP pressing plant. I had to exchange some of those albums. I made some videos for KZbin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGeyloetpr14ptk kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3vLdneBoN2lrK8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnXKgJ2IorueiKc For the AP versions of CCR albums, the best are the ones in the first issue of CCR's "Absolute Originals" albums boxed set, which was pressed at RTI.
