Things made so much more sense in the days of CD 101.9.

I miss this station so much. The summers of 2006 and 2007 were nice and mellow. Every Sunday night, Ramsey Lewis would host a program called "The Legends of Jazz".

Thanks to my dad playing this station in his car ever since I was born (in 1991) this Station, till the day it was last on air, has literally been the soundtrack of my life!! As I am currently on a HUNT to find my favorite CD 101.9 songs that I LOVE so much (to add to my public playlist on Apple Music), I am thankful to come across this video and hear songs like “X Ray hip” that mean sooo much to me. THANK YOU CD 101.9 WQCD

OMG my dad had cd 101.9 on lock until I tried to switch it to hot 97… I thought I was the only kid that had a parent who made them listen to cd101.9. Looking back on it, I would not trade that in for nothing😂😂 this brings back so many great memories. My Dad passed in 2018 and I miss him so much. This reminds me of him sooo much

This was from their experiment in being “New York Chill,” when they tried mixing some Euro chill music in with the smooth jazz. It had decidedly mixed results. Still a great station with great announcers.

..losing the station was a big loss here in NY, Groove Boutique was a breath of fresh air and the sound of the station in general was evolving into a more acid jazz groove sound..I think some people did not like the evolution..i thought it was great, but it didn’t last for long..stay safe and stay strong..New York August 23, 2021..

15 years later, it’s still hard to believe they took this off the air. My parents, aunts/uncles all played this in the car, and when I grew up and got a job, they played this in the office, until one day without warning, it changed formats.

I lived for this station way back when. Nothing like the Groove Boutique on a quiet Saturday night. I was going to answer someone's question about the soundtracks on here, or for that matter anywhere on KZbin. Here's what you all "could" do, download a free version of Shazam, which is almost flawless, and hold it up to the song you want the name of while it's playing. Boom, that's it. I do it all the time. Hope that may help those who needed that info. Peace and be safe.

whotookaegir - After I recorded this tape, they were in storage for many years and when I posted I did not remember exactly when and I am pretty sure I listened to parts of the tape to figure out exactly when, I don't know how I missed the obvious at 11:00!!! Maybe I did spot that later and corrected the title but forgot to correct description, or maybe not??? I do not remember. Anyway, Thanks for pointing that out which alerted me to correct description, and Thanks for contributing to this channel. Cheers!

I don't think there'll ever be a radio station that could replace CD101.9. I actually cried when they took it off the air and replaced with some country music station. Since I've been living in the South (NC) I haven't found ANY station that even comes close to CD101.9. I have NO IDEA what's out there in the music stores anymore. And that's since 2013!!!! I had even gotten "familiar" with my bass while listening/playing along with the material they'd play. Go out and get my fix for my music library at a couple stores in downtown Manhattan. I truly miss that!

It is a high quality consumer grade Maxell XL-IIS Analog tape popular in the 80s-90s. This tape was recorded on a AIWA ADF-800 Deck, the source being a Rotel RT-990BX Tuner.
