Also I am not sure how well these would selle over here because region lock was a thing back then so the usability goes way down and they are usually not boxed so the snobbish collectors also won't care about them.

It seems impressive for us in other countries but retro games are super cheap in Japan, I think because they produce so many copies relative to the population and because collecting isn't a big thing there and people don't have the space to hold on to their old games. For example, you can find SNES RPGs for 1/10th or 1/20th of what the US versions go for.

@@DoomPlague True, I've recently been getting into collecting old games - mostly because the prices are going up and I'm afraid if I don't buy them now all the games I want will be prohibitively expensive in a couple years - and even on ebay you can see huge price differences between the Japanese versions of games and the US versions. I still wonder if their lucky bag was hand-picked by the shop for marketing though lol, if it was a truly random selection of games that weren't selling I would expect a lot more games nobody recognizes or cares about just by raw probability.

But i think its because japanese people collect and do so pretty early in a franchise cycle, thus many collectors items are still in good condition and plenty. Old games were mass produced everywhere, but must got stashed away or thrown out. They are kids games in the west but adults enjoyed them in japan too.

Just made my way to the unboxing and not only is Connor getting some absolutely amazing dope Friggin games and merch, but Kaho absolutely made the unboxings so much more entertaining. Her reactions and knowledge of so many games proves how she’s a legit GAMER through her genuine excitement by simply seeing things as they get revealed to flexing some of her gamer knowledge. The remake of the first game Replicant came out last year and it's amazing. I recognize that a lot of fans of Automata wouldn't like Replicant, that happens, but after I played it it became my favourite of the two. Automata failed to make me sad at the end (for some reason) I just enjoyed the ending, but Replicant made me turbo depressed.

That Super Potato haul was probably my favorite. Fun Fact: between Kojima and Kenny "The Cleaner" Omega's portraits is one "The Phenomenal One" AJ Styles. The Japanese word for tapir is also baku. Sorry for the length of the following explanation. I got carried away. For example, Malayan tapir is "マレーバク(Maleh baku)" in Japanese. When tapirs were discussed under the context of modern taxonomy, Japanese, Chinese and Korean scholars decided to borrow the letter 獏 or 貘 and sound "baku" from the legendary dream eating creature to describe the real-life tapir. Same goes for giraffe. 麒麟(kirin) used to mean Chinese unicorn, but the name and letters were adopted for giraffes too. If you ever drink Kirin beer, take a look at the Chinese unicorn on the front of the can.
