CDC is great for floatation and natural movement. A tapered cone of high density foam can often be a quick and more robust solution on the larger Stillwaters. Also that burnt orange is a bonus as the water warms up and starts to take on that greenish tinge the orange is more visable from a greater distance from the trouts perspective. I think that would work well at Draycote .... i remember catching a 5lb rainbow from the bank using a buzzer that was a similar peach color but with a red rib, i think it was july / august time .. atb Dave Mc

@@lindsayiflyfish … Wow that’s sad that the management company went under….perhaps Severn Trent are in negotiations with someone else … perhaps keen flyfisher who has money and experience of running a fishery … Roger Daltrey I’m looking at you sir!! 😂 I’m sure it’s because angling in general is just losing participants…. The yute of today are more interested in staring at their phones than getting outside and frankly very few Dads are teaching them as well … last time I walked around Draycote there was hardly any folk fishing from the bank ☹️ … used to be in my day the banks were loaded on the weekend … not sure those days are ever going to come back … but I’m going to keep making fly fishing videos to do my part to revive the sport …. Anyhoo I’ve gotta go .. off to a new lake today Lake Estes (in Estes Park Co) it’s chock full of Rainbows and cutbows (odd Brown) and some of them get quite chunky … going throw a few buzzers at them and see what happens…. of course they’ll be a video 😄 … ATB Dave Mc

Nice wee one sir the shuttle cock is one of my best patterns it took a lot of fish yesterday for me in the hares ear version and does very well on the lake and other places for me in different types I dont put a lot of seals fur at the thorax just enough to cover it and use wet fly hooks for most of them feel it makes the fly sit nicer in on the surface

I prefer the curved hooks for this style but I’m sure the wet hooks work well.

They take to much of your time. When they get wet they take a fair bit of recovery and after fish slime 🤦‍♂️

Also noticed the comment about not the colour for clewedog, what made you tie this pattern for clewedog? We Fish it a fair bit and always have a good day on the dries.

@@lindsayiflyfish I use a microfibre cloth to dry my cdc. Rinse the slime off first a wee rub with the cloth and your floating again
