CDMX Desfile de Día de Muertos 2018 💀 Mexico City Day of the Dead Parade!

In today's travel Mexico video we experience one of Mexico City's newest traditions- the CDMX Desfile de Día de Muertos or the Mexico City Day of the Dead Parade! Inspired by a James Bond movie, the CDMX Desfile de Día de Muertos is something incredible to see! Although Mexico City is not the most traditional place to experience Day of the Dead- nobody does parades quite like CDMX!
Fun Facts about the 2018 CDMX Desfile de Día de Muertos:
-More than 1000 volunteers helped make the parade happen
-It took over 10 months of preparation
-The city estimated that around 1-2 million people would come to watch the parade!
-This was the first year the parade was nationally televised
What is Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead)?
"The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. In 2008, the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO."

El paseo de las ánimas tampoco se hacía de aquí un poco se empezó realizar por lo de la película particularmente disfruto más de la muestra de altares que del desfile. Tampoco se pintaban ni se disfrazaban de catrinas ni había calaveritas de azúcar, eso es influencia del centro de México, en los pueblos se sigue viendo lo más tradicional, en las ciudades hay más influencia de otros lados

Best of Dia de Muertos is to visit "Las Ofrendas" like Mega Ofrenda de la UNAM, Zocalo,, Anahuacalli , so on, Almost every museum in Mexico city has its own "Ofrenda" . Also you must go to Xochimilco to see "La llorona" performing into the "Xochimilco canales" . Las one interesting thing is to visit cementeries like "Mixquic".

Hay un pueblo de la CDMX ubicado al sureste de la misma que celebra el "Día de Muertos" San Andres Mixquic, allí pueden apreciar como son las ofrendas o altares que se montan en las casas y el "Alumbrado del Panteón" que se hace el día 2 de nov. por la noche.... Saludos!!

In many city's of Mexico we had Dia de los muertos parade since long time ago! it just we never had being showed it to the world becouse it is something very sacred and particular to Mexico. but after this being showed by James bond movie. we open this Mexican celebration to the world. and the right city to do this sharing to the world its Mexico city. but the parades of Dia de muertos. we're here in Mexico before james bond movie. it. was just only particular. for Mexico only. the james bond movie. after that. Mexico start to shared to the world what. we have all over the country. but parades of. Dia de muertos. i lived in usa 25 years ago. and i remember when i was little. in the elementary school we. organised all together. to participate all the school in the central of my city. to participate in this parades. look back in the 80s. A ver para todos los amargados que dicen que este desfile no es la tradición Mexicana debo decirles que el hecho de que en la cdmx lleve pocos años haciéndose esto a partir de la película, en provincia las caravanas de día de muertos y desfiles de Catrinas y catrines son comunes desde hace muchos años! Soy Michoacána uno de los estados donde más se celebra el Día de muertos, este desfile de la cdmx es pensando más en el turista que no va a conocer la provincia y está bien, también se vale y no por eso se falta el respeto a la tradición, dicen que solo es producción y no se que a ver, vean bien el desfile había chinas poblanas, perros xoloescuincles, catrinas, una calavera representando un pescador del lago de patzcuaro y todo eso no es Mexicano? Claro que si lo es, dejen de ser tan amargados nada les parece!

Yes I think they may have been slightly without knowledge saying they think parades came from a James Bond movie. Parades are a tradition of Mardi Gras here in the state of Louisiana but not in other parts of the United States traditionally. Overall, this was done with respect. I have seen disrespectful videos in English on día de muertos and they were perceived as respectful by those who maybe didn't understand certain English phrases. Ignorance and disrespect are two totally different things. She didn't say it's not traditional in all of Mexico, she just said that other parts of Mexico are more traditional than cdmx. I don't know the truth in that statement.

Mexico City has a traditional place for “día de muertos”. That place is Mixquic, located in the south of the city. You can watch something about Mixquic on a french girl’s channel called “Sev en voyage “ has a nice video about the place and Día de muertos.
