Great video! So much nostalgia in here. Also, those first boards I made were actually pressed between two techdeck decks, not even a mold made from tech decks! G4 was my first bondo mold. G1 was just two techdecks and some c clamps. G2 and G3 were then with modified techdecks!
@cdplaya2 жыл бұрын
The good old fashion Tech Deck press haha I used rubber bands tied around two Tech Decks for my first board!
@MeshuggahDave.2 жыл бұрын
wow yall are so ingenuitive. I started fingerboarding in the 90's when tech deck came out. When you say back in the day, I was already done being made fun of for playing with a toy for ten years. I was watching Rodney Mullen casper slide on tony hawks pro skater 1 and was doing it myself with a tech deck, if that shows when I was alive. I was finger boarding in highschool phys ed class '98. I was so long before this it makes me angry. AND there were kids so long before me putting VHS videos together and these new kids act like they were the first. My wife still has absolutely no interest in watching me play with a toy. To think I gave up all of this because of the hobby being taboo for adults makes me feel left out and left behind. I was going to make a channel and i have been practicing for about 3 months now. After watching the kids that used to make fun of me now following you younger people I am at a loss for words. Somehow going even further than the original embarrassment has enabled you both to have a better life. And this guy actually uses the back of his fingers to trick? Whatever, someone make me a casket already. I am over it. TLDR : This is NOT the history of fingerboarding whatsoever. Who cares about pro boards. Yall got these tiny pieces of wood and tin for sale for 140 bucks. Its a rip off and a rape of the lifestyle by the industry.
@cdplaya2 жыл бұрын
@@MeshuggahDave. It's unfortunate you are so bitter. First, nothing prevents you from fingerboarding. There are plenty of adults who fingerboard (myself included). There's even Nestor who is in his 70's. You think I never got made fun of for using a fingerboard? I just am mature enough not to give a damn what others think - and to be honest I don't give a damn what you think too! Second, I started fingerboarding in the mid-90's. If you watch my other videos, I highlight footage from the late 80s into the mid 90s of fingerboarders such as Dennis Stimac, Martin Winkler, Damien Bernadet, Timo Kranz and Tony Pauthex. I've been fingerboarding longer than you. I have nothing to do with your bitterness so please fix it or direct that elsewhere. It's not my fault there were jerks that made fun of your hobby. I wish you well digging your grave buddy!

Great video. Thanks for putting this together. I used to make decks under the brand Stay Making from 2008-2011. Would post them a bunch on fingerflipinc and even sold a few over the years. They weren't the greatest, but I had so much fun making them and designing the artwork for them. I made a custom graphic with a caricature of Martin Winkler and mailed it to him to add to his collection. He sent me such a kind email in return thanking me for the deck. Legend!

Awesome video as usual! I absolutley love the "history of" videos. It truly shows how far fingerboarding has come. As far as unmentioned companies, my first ever wooden fingerboard came from Prowood Fingerboards, which I still have today. The shape is a bit different than modern fingerboards, but I love them! I've also had excellent budget decks from Roswell Fingerboards, originally based in Ventura, CA, where I grew up, but is now out of Laughlin, NV. Eric is a super cool guy who makes great entry level products that do not skimp on quality. Shout out to Jim from Prowood also! Anyway, keep the great content coming!
