I wish we could get the link for the video described at 25:29 about ion concentration increase in quick clay. How does the clay "get thick again" if the double layer is decreasing? Shouldn't it be shrinking if it's losing thickness? One can only dream.

I've read that a higher zeta potential results in higher stability and repulsion of clay colloids. However, in this video, an increase in ion concentration results in a higher zeta potential but decreases the double layer thickness. How does this mean that the clay is expansive? Can someone please elaborate? I realize that there are not many viewers but I hope I can find a Geotechnical mentor one day!

A question please i cant understand why as the CEC increases the water layer becomes smaller i think this more cations will attract more water to it and swelling potential also increase
