Hello everyone,
Today I am here with the story of a real Romanian dictator from Bucharest. We will tour his palace with 1,100 rooms. First of all, who is Ceaușescu?
Nicolae Ceaușescu (1918-1989) was the last dictator of the Socialist Republic of Romania.
Ceaușescu came to power as Romania's communist leader in 1965 and ruled the country for approximately 24 years. During his reign, he attempted to centralize the economy and modernize agriculture and industry, but also implemented harsh repression and human rights violations within the country.
In 1989, Ceaușescu and his wife Elena violently cracked down on government opposition protests for many years before being overthrown by the Romanian people. Ceaușescu was sentenced to death on December 25, 1989, and was executed on the same day.
Briefly, the history of the building is as follows:
The Romanian Parliament Building is a structure located in Bucharest and is considered one of the world's largest administrative buildings. The Parliament Building was constructed as part of a complex of many buildings called the "People's House" during the reign of former Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu.
The Parliament Building covers an area of 365,000 square meters, has 12 floors, and approximately 3,000 rooms. The building is one of the largest civil structures in Europe and is also the third largest administrative building in the world.
The design of the building combines Neo-Byzantine, Neo-Romanesque, and Neo-Classical styles to reflect Romania's architectural and cultural heritage. Inside the building, valuable artworks and luxury materials such as paintings, sculptures, handmade carpets, and crystal chandeliers have been used.
Today, the Parliament Building is home to Romania's two chambers of parliament and other state institutions. It is also a popular tourist destination and one of Bucharest's major attractions.
Today, we will tour Ceaușescu's palace, but the real tragic part is that he didn't get to see it before he died. Yes, he didn't get to see the palace. The palace is currently used as a parliament building, and all operations are carried out from there. However, it is such a large and expensive place that the Romanian people use it for conferences, concerts, and other various events.
