I am quite amazed how rarely this has been viewed and how little comments there are. Nonetheless a very inspiring vision of the future. The kind of perspective and goals to strife and that the world so sorely needs.

Texas has 195,000 lane miles of roadway and 53,000 bridges. The cost to maintain the system is substantial and essentially means that at any given time 10% of the system is under construction or maintenance. Jeremy' discussed the idea of a distributed power network in which each home has its own solar / wind power source that is interconnected through a coop, and each time only mentioned the capital costs of installing the network. What about the maintenance costs of the network - not to mention the compatibility of components with the coop - many different solar / wind system manufacturers produce systems - will each system function well when interconnected to one coop network? The idea of a zero marginal cost energy system sounds appealing, but there are lots of factors that must be taken into account before claiming the system is zero marginal cost.

Regarding making a power plant out of any building. Wouldn't it make sense to try to get every home off-grid and then build the power network from there? Basically the opposite from what we know now. So every home would have its own power plant and battery (Tesla is already experimenting) and power the new grid with its surplus energy.

His ideas are interesting, but it's all high tech, carbon neutral, post peak oil, feel good, crypto currency, best practice, green speak. He's a genius, but is he a craftsman?

+Steven Gibbs For money? What are you talking about? The guy constantly talks about how all of his books were up on torrent websites before they were even published, and he encourages people to download his books, for free. He actively praises those who download books for free. What on earth are you talking about?
