I really needed this song. I lost my best friend Gigi to cancer in June of 2019, then my sister in July, then Gigis husband in September, then my husband and my friend in October. I got so lost in greif I thought I was going to die, but I had to live and fight to adopt my nephew who had just lost his mommy. My husband begged for me to go to therapy, and I did. My husband begged me to believe in God again, and so I started to. By the grace of God I'm finally living again and didn't realize he was giving us the gift of being parents something we had wanted but we were not able to do untill my sister gave me the greatest gift her little boy. I thank God for never leaving me even tho my perception was so clouded by sadness.

You know, when i was younger, whenever i was upset i'd always run to my room and pray with all my little heart and my whole soul in my itty bitty body to whatever higher power there was. Whenever i think about it, i remember how fragile, how breakable i felt every time i prayed. Like if something just grazed me, i'd shatter like a frozen bubble. I remember sobbing into my clasped hands just wishing for something, anything to change to happen. Usually it went "Please God, if you're there, if you can hear me, please help me. Give me a sign that you hear me, that you won't let me go like everyone else". Its funny how i look back on it and i question why i did that. I don't know if it was pure belief or just, "no one else is listening to me, maybe this benevolent, omniscient presence will". And it always hurt so much when nothing happened. I'm older now. Honestly i don't know how much i believe in God, mostly because it stems from, "everyone claims that he helped them, so why was he never there for me?", and its ignorant yes but i still don't really understand. This song... this song just makes all of that seem so much real. And although i'm still a bit iffy on my belief, i realize now that he did help me. He gave me so many people that helped me heal and grow and learn. And this song just makes that so much more real.
