This is another video that shows one way to wrap a 'shift knob' in leather.
It is also a related video to steering-wheels, thus, if interested in learning how to cover the wheels, you should start practicing these procedures to become familiar with the hand sewings.
Keep an eye out on our channel! ...it seems that pretty soon, we will have available the promised courses about 'steering-wheels' and others. As a matter of fact, it has not been an easy task to find pedagogical procedures to make our students learn easily...it has taken some time to develop the methods.
I hope you find this video useful!

This is amazing. I am a beginner learning auto upholstery and this has helped a lot. Never realized how much work goes into the shift knob. Beautiful combination. I was confused at first but the artist came out in the end. Talented!

That turned out well. Ive done who knows how many shift knobs and its interesting to watch someone else do one and do it well. I always skive the leather at the bottom so there is no fight getting it all to turn the corner, lay down and stay there while retaining the space for the shift lever. And as you stated in the description, knobs just go along with wheels. Ive only done steering wheels for 6 years and learned some of the methods from watching your work. Thanks for sharing.

muy perfecto la mano del hombre supera cualquier maquina es un trabajo de clase , veo que es importantisimo la cordinacion de los patrones, pregunto eso se podra hacer con vinil o imitacion a cuero?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын

Thank you for these generous uploads. I have a couple of questions. What kind of pen are you using? What kind of needle are you using (size, gauge?)? And what kind of string (seems very thick)? I'm entry level and I'm using a standard sewing machine and have been using heavy duty sewing needles, but that seems inappropriate for this kind of work.

The main idea of these videos is inspire the interested user in order to find his own way of performing an upholstery project. I mean find easier ways, be faster, to get a better outcome, etc. 1. I've not used that tool. It would be interesting if you try out. 2. Unfortunately by using this method some leather material is wasted. That's because of the spoke areas and leather material should be cut wider. The good thing is that after mastering the process it would be really fast to leather-wrap around a steering-wheel. The best method to save leather material is to do it in four sections. I have in mind to prepare some related videos.

what glue are you using
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын
It's a yellow glue which comes in cans or bottles,most of the upholsterers, shoemakers, and leather artisans use...it is applied by using a brush or spatula. As I was watching this I started to wonder what do you use to remove the silver pen marks from the leather ?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 7 жыл бұрын
I use a 'cleaner/washer' shoemakers use to remove dirt, goo, glue, etc. when detailing their finished products.This liquid doesn't affect the surface of leather material.

Does a Peugeot 207/Citroen C1/Toyota Aygo really deserve a leather gear knob? Am I really nerdy for knowing what that knob is off?

What marking pen are you using and what chemical are you using to wipe it off the leather?
@Cechaflo

I am using a 'silver pen leather marker'. www.amazon.com/Tandy-Leather-Marking-Pen-2097-00/dp/B00QAUYDYI wholesaler.alibaba.com/product-detail/Metal-Silver-Refill-Marker-Pen-Accessory_60741105088.html In regards of the chemical it is a liquid called 'washer' here in Mexico...I do not know the constituents, sorry.
