I found some stuff on the Cecil Hotel. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a Latino man found dead inside the Cecil Hotel on July 9. The person is believed to be between the ages of 20-50. The decedent was found decomposed in a room in the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on the night of 7/9/2024. On February 19, 2013, the body of Canadian tourist Elisa Lam (born as Lam Ho-yi; Chinese) was recovered from a large cistern at the Cecil Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, where she had been a guest. She was last seen alive on January 31 and was reported missing by her parents on February 8. Her body was discovered by a hotel maintenance worker investigating complaints of flooding and low water pressure. On February 13, after another week with no sign of Lam, the LAPD released a video of the last known sighting of her taken in one of the Cecil's elevators by a video surveillance camera on January 3. In approximately two and a half minutes of footage, Lam, alone, makes unusual moves and gestures. She appears to press every button on the elevator panel, peers into the hallway, then leaves the elevator at one point while its doors remain open. When the doors fail to close after she returns, she leaves; the doors close later. Several theories emerged to explain her actions. One was that Lam was trying to get the elevator car to move in order to escape from someone who was pursuing her. Others suggested that she might be under the influence of ecstasy or some other party drug, but none was detected in her body. When her bipolar disorder became known, the theory that she was having a psychotic episode also emerged. During the search for Lam, guests at the hotel began complaining about low water pressure. Some later claimed their water was colored black and had an unusual taste. On the morning of February 19, Santiago Lopez, a hotel maintenance worker, found Lam's body in one of four 1,000-gallon (3,785 L) tanks located on the roof providing water to guest rooms, a kitchen, and a coffee shop. Through the open hatch he saw Lam lying face-up in the water. The tank was drained and cut open since its maintenance hatch was too small to accommodate equipment needed to remove Lam's body. In 64 a woman named Pigeon Goldie was found raped and murdered in her hotel room, the killer was never identified. During the 80s the serial killer Richard Ramirez lived temporarily at the Cecil (he was homeless and stayed in skid row) when he committed most of his murders. Another serial killer named Jack Unterweger stayed at the Cecil in the 90s where he murdered at least three prostitutes. In 2013 the Cecil made news again when a Canadian student Elisa Lam was found dead inside the water tank on the roof of the building after guests complained of the water in the showers smelling strange. There was also a video of Lam acting strangely on a elevator cctv camera before her disappearance. Her death is believed to have been related to psychotic illness and was declared and accidental drowning. After the hotel was shut down during the covid pandemic it was reinagurated as an affordable housing complex. Reports indicate that the conditions inside the building are run down with black mold and structure damage and the people living there are mostly homeless from skid row with substance abuse issues and mental health problems. This probably explains the situation in this video. I don’t particularly believe in these ghost stories but this hotel definitely has a checkered history. I think it can be chalked up to the fact it’s a pretty large establishment near a pretty run down area of downtown LA and the hotel never really financially recovered after it’s opening during the great depression.

For those who didn't know, Cecil Hotel is notorious for murders, suicides, and other suspicious activity, they actually renamed the hotel in 2011, it's now Stay On Main, however the hotel itself is still nicknamed The Suicide, it's been featured in Ghost Adventures as well. It also has 14 floors, which in some cultures, the 13th floor would be considered bad luck, due to the word 13 sounds like death. What's also interesting enough, I do believe several people even tried playing the elevator game in the Cecil Hotel.

The number 13 is holy in almost every religion, including the religion that banned it (Jesus is the 13th or 1st member of a group of 13). The Catholic Church demonized it as the Aztecs openly revered the number. They demonized it to facilitate assimilation into Christianity which ironically also worships the number but without being conscious of it. Christians will believe anything. They almost got me, but I made it out!

@@elizabethjames1901 The elevator game is where you find a building with atleast 10 floors, you enter a sequence of floor numbers to get into an alternate world, the floor sequence is 4 2 6 2 10 5 (a woman will get in the elevator on the fifth floor do not look or talk to her, she's not human, if you do look or talk to her, she will claim you), finally hit the 1st floor button. It should take you up, not down, if it does go up you are now in a different world. If it goes down, exit the elevator and leave the building, do not talk or look back.
