some lyric errors in this song, 'he yearned - God does not yearn, he does all things after the counsel of his own will, scripture says, God does what he will when he will when and how he pleases, he is not restriced by man or anything, the lyric goes on to say 'to save us all'-this is a lie. God only knew his elect whom he would save from the foundation of the world-this is the teaching of scripture. God does not love all people-does he love the people in hell? no. God only loves those who he chose in Jesus before the foundation of the world. John 3:16 is misunderstood by the majority of so called believers also. God loved the world-world meaning all different nations and peoples-NOT the whole world-every single person. See also in scripture where Jesus said "I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine." John 17:9 God did not 'yearn' he did not come as Jesus to save 'all' so these lyrics are error, scripturally, plus it is saying lightly that Jesus came to 'lift us' from the fall-he came and did far more than that.

God does yearn. Time and time again the Bible shows God 'yearning' or desiring for something. As he is a holy God, it is a logical fallacy to try to draw a similarity between his perfect, holy emotions [for example a righteous anger] and our sinful, human emotions. This has nothing to do with being restricted by man or anything else. The fact is, we [humans] are God's most precious creation, and there is nothing he wants more than for all of us to come to a saving knowledge of Christ. The Bible says that it is not God's will that ANY should perish- but that ALL should have eternal life. Oh, and by your logic, saying God doesn't love people in hell is like saying he didn't love Christ when He was on the cross. He still loves the person, but He has to turn His back on their sin- and- by extension, them.

Joy in Jesus....u have a very sqewed view of God and scripture. God does yearn and long, through His Son Jesus Christ for "all" for the entire salvation of the world and for the Jewish nation...His people. Jesus died for all and he came not to condemn the world, but that the world thru him might be saved. He wants all, He loves all and he died for all. Because He is sovereign and knows that not all will come to Him , He still loves all and died for the remission of all. Jn 3:16. He most definitely loves those who due to not accepting His gift of salvation, r now in hell...He does love them still. Because He is God and we don't understand how He does, but He does. God is no respector of persons, He loves us all the same and equally.

You're wrong. God does love everybody. He sent his son to die on the cross so that everybody can be saved. But he also gave us free will. He is not going to force people to accept him. Those people in hell had just as much chance as anybody else to accept him, but instead they rejected him. That they are in hell is not God's fault, but their own. They probably thought "I'll put it off until later" or "I'll get by on my good works". Nothing we do, no matter how many good deeds we do can get us into heaven. Being a member of a church won't save you.. Singing in the choir won't save you. Even being a preacher and leading people to Jesus Christ won't save you. "For many will come to me in that day and say "Lord! Lord! Didn't we not preach in your name and in your name cast out many miracles?" and verily will I say to them "Depart from me, you workers of iniquity, I never knew you".

Beautiful song. When speaking about God I believe that we need to be accurate according to what the scriptures reveal. "Jesus, the Father's only Son" is inaccurate. Jesus is the "Only Begotten Son" uncreated and beyond time. But we are all sons and daughters of God. To say that Jesus is the only Son of God can be a denial of our faith. In my opinion selection of words are important. I am guessing that the author did not mean anything other than to spread the gospel. Its still a beautiful song with a beautiful melody. :-)
