I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. This passage from the Book of the prophet Isaiah is read in my church every three years on The Second Sunday of Advent, which falls between December 4-10. On this Sunday, the second candle is lit on the Advent Wreath. The light in the dark world has gotten a little brighter.
