Another fun wincon is bouncing and recasting urza over and over and creating a ton of */* constructs that are huge. After your opponents hands and permanents are stripped, pass the turn and swing with a massive army of robots.

Thanks! The goal is also to give people a intro to a deck so that they can get a good grasp of its general play pattern and construction without having to read a primer or spend a while playing it.

Great Urza rundown, thanks! Would love to see a non-combo cEDH deck tech, a lot of my mates say cEDH is all infinite mana/Thassa Oracle. Something like Winona/Yuriko/Yissan 😁

As an Urza player. I feel Timetwister loops take to long. I am not trying to sit there and loop to win. Once I have infitnite mana I normally Capsize with buyback everything then cast Jace, Weilder of Mysteries and win. I am not saying it is wrong but I just feel like this is a faster way to go. Great video! I love watching Deck Techs on Urza to see if I can learn anything new.

I play poly tyrant because my gilded drake is in another deck and I don't have to buy another hullbreacher. Also polymorph is a fun card that can finally come out of my binder after 20 years. However I rarely play the deck because I don't want to bore people with long turns.

Wouldn’t Timetwister be unable to return the exiled card by Urza as it only says graveyard on timetwister?

I'd rather play Urza with a few infinite mana combos to exile my whole deck then cast Thassa's Oracle and win on the spot than eat away with the Construct token

nice video man! whats the difference between timetwister and echo of eons? Does the combo with timetwister work with echo of eons as well?
@LaboratoryManiacs
@LaboratoryManiacs 3 жыл бұрын
For both you narset's reversal the card to keep the loop going. Echo just costs more if you cast it outside of the loop.

As someone who is saving up for a tTimetwister and a Grim Monolith would Urza be playable without those or no?
@LaboratoryManiacs
@LaboratoryManiacs 3 жыл бұрын
100% check out the discord and they can help you with inline replacements. for twister, Echo of Eons is the usual replacement, with Days Undoing be the secondary. For Grim Monolith, I'm not 100% sure, but they will be able to help you there.

The goal is to have the highest quality cards in the deck. Both of those are not great in several scenarios. And are only there for the winning combo, why have them in the deck if they are not needed?

@@LaboratoryManiacs agreed, i guess i should mention that these cards are only maybe an option when we can't afford those expensive blue wheel spells.

Do you have examples of other winconless decks?
@LaboratoryManiacs
@LaboratoryManiacs 3 жыл бұрын
Any deck with "Timetwister Loops" as a wincon is a winconless deck. This can include a very alrge number of decks. The 'evolution' deck family usually is included here. www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveEDH/comments/fy4m4h/the_evolution_project/ Prior to consultation, most Tasigur builds were winconless. Using Tasigur to recast spells as many times as they want. Gitrog almost always has a winconless win as the main plan.

Do you recommend going poly-tyrant over UPS? Or run both?
@LaboratoryManiacs
@LaboratoryManiacs 3 жыл бұрын
It can be meta dependent. If you are in a stax heavy meta, poly-tyrant will be much better positioned than UPS.
@Q-Bits8
@Q-Bits8 3 жыл бұрын
@@LaboratoryManiacs does the polytyrant version work well without timetwister and time spiral? I don't have these and I think UPS is better without these cards?
@LaboratoryManiacs
@LaboratoryManiacs 3 жыл бұрын
@@Q-Bits8 When you need Timetwister or Timespiral, you are in a position that you have infinite mana. You can use Midnight Clock in this position. Play the clock, add 12 counters on to it. Respond to the trigger and bounce it to your hand. If it isn't in play when the shuffle resolves, it isn't exiled, but you still get the spiral effect. You can also use Echo of Eons. Echo is a bit better than clock as it can be cast during non-combo turns if it is really needed and then can sit in the Graveyard. The primers that I linked have budget suggestions to help with this as well.

@EisenherzMTG

T1 carpet is always a valid target for a mental misstep when you play any mono U deck. carpet and dockside are prob the worst cards for us, because they work around our mana denial.

To avoid the headache of finding a way of closing out the game after infinite mana, would it be worth running an aetherflux reservoir? That would also combo with tyrant if you just have a mana neutral artifact but no mana positive ones.
@M31415
@M31415 3 жыл бұрын
It's really not much of a headache once you're familiar with the list. The benefit of a 'winconless' deck is you don't have any cards that are only good during the combo, so you have overall higher card quality
@LaboratoryManiacs
@LaboratoryManiacs 3 жыл бұрын
Not really. It is a dead card in all the points, except when you are comboing off. Winconless twister loops lets us get past this and raises the overall card quality by a good amount. Tasigur did this for a really long time too, infinite mana into Beast Within + Reality Shift was one of the first winconless strats.

@@EisenherzMTG echo is worse then the 5 mana twister and clock is really bad as a time twister.
@LaboratoryManiacs
@LaboratoryManiacs 3 жыл бұрын
@@swiftdragonrider Clock works fairly well when you are on the combo turn. It doesn't hit your opponents, but if clock is no longer on the battlefield when the shuffle/draw trigger resolves, then it isn't exiled. It is more mana, for sure, but in the spot of twister loops, you start with the assumption of infinite mana. So we don't really need to be concerned with the 26UUUUUUUUUUUUU + a bounce spell to get us there.
@swiftdragonrider
@swiftdragonrider 3 жыл бұрын
@@LaboratoryManiacs I forgot you get your entire deck before you need to loop making the bounce spell req unimportant.
@EisenherzMTG
@EisenherzMTG 3 жыл бұрын
@@swiftdragonrider These are the go to options we recommend to anyone building budget Urza lists, because both enable twister loops and are more usefull outside of loops than any other option. - Clock is at the very least a rock that taps for U. - Echo is a reusable Twister effect that doesnt exile itself after the first use. Outside of twister loops, both of these are better than Time Reversal, because you can't use TR during the game and then reuse it to loop spells. During twister loops you will alreary have infinite mana, so any twister effect is viable. You can ofc use another out, like Codex Shredder (pretty meh) or Jace (also meh), but I wouldnt recommend any of those. If you dont want to use any teoster loops, there is also always the dual-scepter-loop with Iso+DramRev and Iso+NarRev, which also allows you to loop any instant or sorcery.
