Gaetz is a clown, he wants to get indignant and upset, he was ready to deliver that line the moment the representative brought up kids. This is the extremist strategy for argument, try to distract or strawman their way through, and when that doesn't work, flame with righteous indignation and fury. This guy knows the drill, it's the kind of strategy used by racist holdouts in the past, Gaetz is just the new face of it.

This comment is a clear indication that the "race card" is not a real thing, but rather a concept that (usually) white people tend to say when they are uncomfortable with acknowledging their potential racist words and actions. But I will ask this. If the congressman from LA saying that there is a national crisis plauging Black Americans and that the white men on the other side don't know what it's like to be a Black man and that those same white men act on their internal biases isn't considered the "race card"....then what is? I think people need to figure out what they want to qualify as "the race card" because as someone who doesn't believe the race card is a thing anyway, it doesn't make sense to me how they decide what is and isn't the race card.

@@nicolepsy Nicole, Matt Gaetz has a 19 year old son whom he adopted 7 years ago. His name is Nestor and he's Cuban. Gaetz has kept the family facts fairly well concealed until his outburst, even from organizations doing biographical reporting. For 2 terms now, his staff have reported him as single with no children. I think Matt made Cedric's point for him ... Why wouldn't he acknowledge him as his son publicly for 7 years? I think even less of him now, not because he has a Cuban son, but because he was willing to hide him.

My ex-husband used to have a phrase he trotted out every time he got caught out and called out over his behaviour. He would say "It's all water under a bridge now". And to this day he still does not understand that if you want the past to be water under a bridge, you have to help to build the bridge first. Until the behaviour is held to account and the damage dealt with, there is no going forward and everyone involved is locked into a place from which healing cannot happen because the cause of the problem has not been resolved.
