My very first premium knife was a PM2, blacked-out w/ S30V. I recently picked up the Crucarta PM2 and damn…it’s given me a whole new respect for the PM2, overall. I had been searching for that next tier knife to blow my cash on. Chaves was in there…WE, CRK and some others. But, honestly, I’d be perfectly content owning nothing but Spyderco knives. Especially the PM2. It only took me 5-6 years and a couple grand to come full circle and end up with this revelation. And, it feels good, man.

My first "big" knife was the Manix 2 lw in s110v. That was years ago, and the addiction flew off the handle afterward. But now days, I havnt bought a knife in a while. I want to, but I have so many now that I just use them.

I agree wholeheartedly. I have $800 knives and though they are beautiful to look at... none are as ergonomic or useful as my Spyderco's. I'm fondest of the Para Military 2 and Delica 4. I own 2 Delica 4's and 1 PM2 but am finding myself looking for another PM2. I'd like to have one in each of my vehicles and 1 or 2 kicking around for EDC. Not sure if that's normal or excessive? Lol. I have a Cold Steel Espada too but it's just too damn big for EDC... stunning knife though.

I've carried a blue m390 model almost everyday for about 8 years now. The only reason I'm even looking at new knives is because I've sharpened it down to where it's basically a sliver at this point. It's probably the best investment I've ever made.

@Stelio Kontos I do have a civivi. A lumi and a button lock elementum.. the elementum has a crazy good blade and was about 90us dollars shipped to Canada (like 125 canadian) great knife, but honestly pales in comparison to the pm2 in s45vn.. I wouldn't have bought it retail though, as it would have been close to 300 canadian.. I am quite happy with the deal I got it for (160can. lightly used from a local seller) civivi does make some great blades, but spyderco is definitely better, although you do pay a huge premium for it

I love that you are inspired to make knife videos and help me laugh at myself! I carried a blurple PM2 in S110V until I moved to Las Vegas where 3 inch plus blades are illegal. I got a Para 3 in Maxamet because I could carry it. They both worked great but I searched for something less wide in my pocket. Couldn’t get any TRM knives. I got a Hogue/Ritter mini RSK MK1 (and a few other knives). The Hogue/Ritter fits great for me most of the time unless I need something bigger. I like the full size version too.

I was very curious and happy when I saw you post this because I have been thoroughly impressed with Spyderco’s more recent cruwear and more specifically the “Crucarta” pm2 which has been my work carry for many months now. Over the last few years Cruwear has become my favorite all around steel, it’s got good edge holding while being very durable and not too difficult to maintain or sharpen. On top of that, it’s corrosion resistance is surprising considering the class of steel it’s in. I’m not always the most cautious when it comes to keeping blades clean and my crucarta still looks brand new when I properly wipe down the blade. Maybe it’s in part due to Spyderco’s heat treat and hardness which has been reported to run around 63-65RC I believe but it also just seems cruwear is not a stain prone as steels like M4 or K390 and is much more along the lines of 3V. On a side note Benchmade seems to be getting a fair amount of positive feedback on their cruwear as well although I can’t say I’ve put mine through the ringer like I have with my cruwear pm2.

I feel like Pete has hit the nail on the head as why my PM2’s are mostly shelf knives for me. On paper it’s more premium than my seki k390 spyderco’s (better fit and finish, more fun lock, more solid lockup.. ect..) but in hand and cutting It’s less comfortable and has a thicker blade than FRN handled spyderco offerings. The Stretch is simply better at cutting and more comfortable.

@jeffrey abrahamse VG-10 Endura was my first Spyderco, I love it but I the Stretch is so much better. I thought the Stretch was bigger due to the name, but the Endura is actually the bigger knife overall lol. And I agree with Pete on his point where Stretch is a better performing PM2. Thinner stock and grind, better ergos thanks to backlock and FRN handles. Boxy scales on the PM2 are a hot-spots and the compression lock just tends to dig into your palm which are non-issues on an FRN back lock.

Sadly that is also the most expensive option and shipping to you wouldn't be cheap so you can always get a desktop fan off amazon and use an external battery bank (like one to charge your phone) to keep the fan running for a long while. I've got my first pm2 still, it's an original at that. I bought it back when they were first released and it was my first go at s30v. Once I figure out what I needed to sharpen it, I had a ball with it. I've used the absolute piss out of it to where the DLC coating is showing good amounts of wear. I still carry it semi frequently because I don't want to forget it. It's what got me out of sub $50 knives. As you said though, the k390 stretch 2 is basically better all around and nothings booted it out of my pocket for any amount of time since, and I share the same sentiment about the Para 3, I don't carry mine much. Honestly the knife was a bit of a let down. Blades too thick, too wide, handles too boxy. It should have been slimmed down, thinned out and also shortened into a little edc blade. But then that would just be a delica then wouldn't it? Oh and algorithm guy gets it, I'll watch video of people mowing their lawns or doing the simplest of things for embarrassingly long amounts of time.

This is my thought on the compression lock, its too "fumbly" when youre using your knife in a quick manner. Same thing with the "strong lock" from the Hawkes. I was in a production setting so intried many different knives, having to quickly pull my knife, make a cut, close it, and re pocket it. The compression was too "fumbly." Its a great lock for any other reason, tho. The best ive found was a simple thumbstud and a swift axis lock.

If you love the "forward finger choil" but don't have the dosh for a PM2 or Stretch, get a Byrd. They have a similar forward choil that for some reason, the full-fat Endura and Delicas lack.

Just bought a PM 2 in Cruwear, have one in S110v that is really nice, BUT...I found it too chippy. I have 2 fixed blades in Cruwear that I love, so this PM2 should be a good fit. Have used Magnacut 😍😍, hope they produce a PM 2 in that as well, and not just the Salt. Acts like a stainless Cruwear IMO...

This is one of my favorite knives that I own. I was lucky to find it in a shop while I was out of my state on vacation during a time when all the online stores were out of stock! Also tell Uncle Randy I just ordered two Buck 110s in the new stealth series with magnacut steel! I enjoy the show and look forward to more content thank you!

They are 59-61rc and buck traditionally go lower rc on purpose. Not to mention they were like 140. So you kinda got ripped off. Idea rc is between 62 and 64.

@@tacticalcenter8658 well considering they are on Ebay for 300 each as of the day after drop I don't feel to bad plus one is going in the vault to either gain or lose value lol and the other is going get beat on with excessive use and improper sharpening and maintenance it will enough fun for me to justify it 🤣

@@tacticalcenter8658 I can't seem to find the rc numbers anywhere for this first run of magnacut so I'll assume you're speculating and you may be right it could be soft crap and not perform well at all that is what makes me curious to find out. I also understand that because you believe this to be inferior in performance I got ripped off. Maybe I did. As for now though if the selling price I see on Ebay is a true resale value then they have double in price from the original purchase price. This price may drop if the steel proves to be trash. I'm just speculating about that also.

@@jorelstaub2883 ebay are scalper prices. Not true resell. Wow. Your thought process is kind of skewed. Ideally no one buys it at that cost and the seller drops the prices. But tards who are dumb may pay scalper prices because they are dumb.

I've been asking the same question about SPY27. They came out with the Manix 2 LW, Para 3 LW and the Native 5 LW and that was it. Well, I saw a recent video of Metal Complex and apparently, Spyderco is releasing several new models using SPY27 including the Military 2. I have the basic black G10 with S30V blade which I am totally happy with so I don't think I'll be getting the new version though.

Ah the pm2. My favorite overall folder. I have many others but the one in my pocket every single day at work is my pm2. Had one years ago, it got stolen, and I was so bummed out. 6 months later I was working a safe job at a pawnshop and beheld a nice black and camo pm2 in the case. I couldn't leave without it. So after a bit of haggling I got it for $60. Been with me daily ever since. I pair it with a wave, and small Wenger. Perfect combo for me. In the work van is a mora robust like I stash in every vehicle I own.

Pawn shop knives are the best! The average pawn shop customer sees a $100+ folder and couldn't care less. All it takes is a tiny bit of interest and the owner is usually trying to get me to buy every one he has with huge discounts. I've gotten a ton of Benchmades and Spydercos at under 50% MAP, and even a really dumb USA custom (Schenk WR) that retails for $600, for $225!
