Clay, I was surprised to see how much draft your main has for these very light conditions. We are trying to flatten the main in particular noticing some of the other boats seem to be able to point much higher than we can. Do you have any guidance on how to best judge sail shape for the best VMG in these conditions? Thanks, Dan

Hey Dan! Job #1 is to keep flow. More shape generates more power, but too much and the flow detaches from the leeward side of the sail and everything become drag. So that is close to our light-air mode; we know flow stays attached. Pointing is light air can be a trick; its a combo of what boatspeed (and resulting AWA and AWS) you can generate, and how well your foils work. In this 4-5 knot stuff we tend to foot every so slightly... the extra boatspeed (and resulting increase in AWS) more then make up for the loss of point (angle).
