The lady that gave her apology for what had happened to natives kid back in the 1900s , It was nice to hear. Opening the record of what happened. Is the next step. The words are nice but the native people and the people need to know. Truth and memorial to the lives taken.

It's sad but true that many indigenous people were not being treated fairly and equally in boarding schools that they were forced to attend to at very young ages as their parents did and only that they've lost their traditions, customs, culture, beliefs and their language forever because the boarding school forced them to abandon them and often got severely punished for trying to practice their customs, culture, traditions and speaking their language and they were told by the teachers at the boarding school how they were exposed to behave based on their gender and what they can and cannot do sounds unfair I know. But thankfully things have changed since then and those unfair rules and boarding schools are gone and many indigenous people are working hard to bring back their language, culture, customs and traditions and be proud of who they are and not to feel ashamed about being different. Indigenous people are always proud of their heritage and the things that make them totally special and unique if they're treated with respect and be accepted and appreciated for they really are as proud indigenous people.

I celebrate my peoples *every day.* Ironically, as Columbis's cruelties are finally exposed, but the actual Indigenous nation that Columbus (real name PEDRO MADRÚGAZ) abused is still ignored.

Do people even realize Christopher Columbus lived over 500 years ago? Who can relate to anyone who lived that far back in time? People were very different back then, the world was different. How can we be talking about this now? I say leave the Italians alone, let them have their holiday and more power to them!! Why is this holiday being politicized? Leave Columbus Day stand with Italians. That Italians have their own culture and American Indians are very different from the Italians. American Indians and Indigenous Peoples should have their own separate holiday where we focus solely on them and their culture. Leave Columbus Day alone and let's have a different holiday for American Indians and Indigenous Peoples Day! Whatever day that turns out to be!
