Celebrating 60 Years of the Silver Rose Pilgrimage

Every year, Knights of Columbus councils steward silver roses along routes from Canada to Mexico. At each stop, the local community prays especially for respect for life. The program is a crucial aspect of the Order’s expansive pro-life initiatives.

My father, the late Sir Knight John Augustus Romani began the running of the Silver Rose in Laredo, Texas, in 1981. He has never been credited for the hard work and dedication he gave to this endeavor. Many have sought to obliterate his contributions and his memory. When he began the local running of the Silver Rose, he had worked with high school Catholics who were in track. They ran it within the local parishes. In later years, when he took the Silver Rose to outlying parts of the area, the Border Patrol ran the Silver Rose to Zapata and Freer.

Michelle your father sounds like a wonderful and Faithful Sir Knight may he Rest In Peace. For Knights it's not as much about who get's the credit as much as it is that we were able to do good works in the name of Christ. I'm sorry you feel like your father's didn't get the acknowledgement for his hard work from others --- always remember that you know and so does God. God Bless you

@@michaelenos the problem is that Council. 2304 has tried to obliterate his contributions and his memory. They mistreated him in life and more so in death.

@Michelle May GOD ALMIGHTY bless his memory and all that he did for Our Lady and the unborn, as well as the Knights of Columbus! He was a true Knight, 🌹because of his dedication to causes that Our Lady Loves 🌹(Knights in general were historically dedicated to Our Lady!) It is Biblical,that we are meant to give our parents 🎖 honor! With a daughter like you, I am sure you will find many ways to give him the honor 🏅 he so rightly deserves 🏅as you just have done! 🏅 An award honoring his achievements, in his name and those who carry a similar torch and are closely dedicated, given to those who have similarly like minded agendas, as his were, (very specific to his mission) in both American and Mexican Society comes to mind, but even world wide,(why not?) given by of course his daughter, his family, is a very meaningful way to honor your father, his memory, his knighthood and his mission! 🕯 🕊 🕯 May GOD bless your every effort to 🎖 honor his mission, sacrifice and dedication to Our Lady! 🌹🕯 🕊 🕯🌹
