www.Belleville.ca - The City of Belleville has created a mini documentary to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the major renovation that transformed the majestic building into its current format.
The City had run out of room for its municipal operations and the Council of the day had to find a cost effective and long term solution. One proposal suggested the City abandon its historic City Hall. Local architect, engineer and visionary Bill White came up with a solution to add the needed space to the old building and breathed new life into the City's most recognizable asset.
In the documentary, you will hear from Bill White, along with former Mayor Ross McDougall, who was a Councillor at the time and was on the building committee, current Mayor Neil Ellis and historian Gerry Boyce, who wrote a book on the project.
