Diwali is not confined to India it is a celebration by Indians across the globe by different faith (Jainism, Hindus, Buddhist, Sihhs etc). According to many Historian - in October 15th, 527 BCE, Diwali was celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of Lord Mahavir's attainment of moksha, or freedom from the cycle of reincarnation, - celebrated when Lord Krishna killed demon Narakasura - the most famous story it was celebrated when Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya along with Seeta and brother Lakshman after a 14 year exile. The Sikhs celebrated it when Guru Hargobind released from prison as well as the laying of the first stone on the Golden Temple in 1577. During Diwali people forget and forgive the wrongs done by your friends ,families, neighbors, co-workers etc - it is a time people embrace each other with love and happiness. Many Hindus believe if you focus on the Diya or the light it will illuminates your soul. I do worried that soon Diwali will be commercialized like Christmas and other major holidays. This will destroy the intention and the meaning of Diwali(lol). Denny, I wish you and your family happiness, prosperity and health on this special day. Awesome Video.

I enjoyed reading your comments. You did a good research on the significance of Depavali or Divali . From our History in GUYANA, some of our ancestors arrived in Guyana since in May between 1838 and 1917 . The majority being 85 % Hindus and 15 % Muslims. That's why the Indians in Guyana celebrated their religions festivals according to the HOLY RAMAYANA DHARMA OR HOLY BHAGWAT GITA AND THE HOLY QURAN Indoctrinated to our Muslim Brothers and Sisters. So according to those Scriptures, the religions were taught to be celebrated until now , they remained the same. I do appreciate your message on other Sects in India and around the world. We in Guyana also pay respect and celebrate Christmas and Easter. We love it that all our Presidents in Guyana in the past and present have given us the rights and freedom of Religions and are also given National Holidays to commemorate and celebrate every major religious festivals.. I am extremely happy and grateful for Guyanese to enjoy these freedoms and festivities.

I miss Diwali in Guyana so bad here in Jersey it too cold and it have too much dry leaves around this time of the year to go light Diya outside I remember one time in Uitvlught thier soon as my grandma dem light the diya them and put them outside one hard breeze start and blow out all of the diyas 😂
