In honor of Sir Isaac Newton’s birthday (on either December 25 or January 4, whichever date you prefer), Bill Nye and Chuck Nice answer fan-submitted Cosmic Queries about inventions, innovations and scientific discovery. First, find out why there is even a discrepancy in the date of Newton’s birthday, or Newtonmas as Bill calls it, thanks to Pope Gregory XIII, the Vatican Observatory, leap years, and the traditional British sense of autonomy. Next, you’ll learn why Bill is excited about artificial intelligence and self-driving cars. Explore CRISPR, the gene-splicing technology which Bill thinks is the most significant invention this decade. Find out why radiation might not be the barrier to exploring the solar system that some people fear, and why we already have all the technology we need for a human mission to Mars. You’ll also hear why Bill thinks we also have all the technology we need to convert the entire planet’s energy needs to renewable sources, although a better battery would still make its inventor rich. Discover why sewers may be the most important invention in human history. Explore the value of patents - and the problem posed by patent trolls. Plus, Bill and Chuck talk about inventions like GMOs and nuclear weapons, the impact of discovering life on other worlds, Bill’s new show coming this spring on Netflix, Bill Nye Saves the World, and the time he got to fly in an FA-18 Hornet.

Think for yourself.. I got ads a week ago when youtube suggested this reposted video and i thought it was unethical maybe. I was a bit annoyed and maybe still am if i have to think about it. You didn't so you aren't annoyed. What point are you making here? I mean if nothing else your calling me out saying i didn't experience any ads a week ago..? But i did lol. What are you saying?..honestly i mean no offence but what was the point of your comment? Of all the things you could reply to..

@@timmykenny717 Sharing experience. But to help and prevent your future annoyment. There is adblockers that you can get for your browser and prevent getting ads in youtube. I never said you didnt experience ads that would be ignorance. Popular adblocker is called uBlock origin i think.

@@TheAmethyz very aware of things like adblocker yet for some unexplained reason i still like giving money to the channels that deserve it i guess. I don't mind ads. Its just the fact that its a reposted video i guess triggered me.

@@timmykenny717 Might be because they dont have those videos on the channel for some reason anymore so they are reposting them. They got only 5 months ago their oldest video anymore. I have same thing i use adblocker many other websites but in youtube i keep it off. It allows to choose which website you want to keep it off or on. I didnt mind the repost or being old video. I havent seen it or atleast i dont remember seeing this one.

Ironically, one of the oldest known remains of sewers and cities are in India! Harappa and Mohenjodaro civilizations from about 4500 years ago had city wide water and drainage management systems. Though the situation is improving very fast, the sewer system development has not been able to keep up with population expansion and urbanization that happened in 20th century specially after the British imperialists left stopped leeching out every possible resource.

It's common knowledge that India's growth was due to British influence. It had nothing to do with Indians. However, it's also well known that the Indus Valley Civilization was one of three origins of civilization.

36:30 Ancient Syrians were the first to use sewer systems, and water systems. Even public baths with heated water underground, using clay as isolator. But most important invention ever is Alphabet I dare say. Also invented in Syria BTW, and it is the reason our inventions started being accumulated from one generation to another.

Recreational driving. Indeed albeit no teleportation devices are currently in existence, that is what we are aiming to accomplish. Edited to add: Inevitably so, travelling is doomed to be boring someday, like walking. It will eventually be debated as a subjective perspective on a mundane exercise that is essential. Also see: Wheel. Horses. Cars. Airplanes.
