Henry B. Bergey, 102, of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at his residence.
Henry was born in Telford, PA to the late Norman L. Bergey and the late Bessie (Bergey) Bergey. He was the loving husband of the late Kathryn (Ziegler) Bergey for 59 years, and father to Glenn Bergey and the late Roy Z. Bergey and late Fern Z. Yothers.
As we celebrate Henry’s life, we are humbled at the precious gift he was to those who knew him. Above all else, he loved Jesus, which guided him in all aspects of his life. It made him a devout husband to Kathryn, wise and loving father figure to his family, a faithful brother in Christ to Franconia Mennonite Church, a hard-working servant leader to his family’s company (Bergey’s) for over 80 years, and a faithful steward who gave generously of his time, gifts and resources to honor God and bless those around him.
Henry was known for his contagious joy, which was evident from his constant singing and whistling and the enthusiasm he brought to all activities - work or play. He loved reading his Bible, teaching Sunday School for over 70 years, visiting his friends at the Souderton Mennonite Home, the great outdoors, retreating to the mountains in Tioga County, fishing in Canada, flowers, croquet, ice hockey which he played until he was 79, photography, planning events to build community, traveling with friends, playing Rook, and riding his bicycle around Franconia. He served passionately in various leadership roles for the church, non-profits and industry boards. He loved life and he inspired others to live life to the fullest. One of his favorite bible verses was 1 John 5:12-13.
We will miss him on this earth, but our hearts are at peace knowing that he is in heaven with his Lord and Savior.
