In June 2019, a Welcome Pole was unveiled at Bowen Island Community School (BICS). The Pole is a collaboration between the carver, Winadzi, an island resident and member of the Kwakwaka’wakw Nation , Ywalacktun and other members of Squamish Nation that led the blessing ceremonies, and students and staff of Bowen Island Community School and West Vancouver School District.

My dear friend Winadzi is such a great teacher. What a beautiful opportunity for the community. I look forward to visiting the totem to pay my respects to the work that was done and shared.
