Corey and Austin were so sweet with their baby announcement! Everyone says how it is love at first sight with your grandchildren! Having many grand children myself (11), I also repeat that love is the only thing that grows larger within you the more you give it away!❤

I'm bad to allow myself to become envious of what others have...I'm constantly reminding myself to be content with what I have because there's people allover the world that have so much less. Even just thinking of our grandparents or great grandparents generations and what they had to make due with. That puts things in perspective real quick! 🙏

I am almost about to turn middle aged and the one thing I love about getting older is being grateful and realizing you have everything you need. ...I don't like hearing rich or powerful people always complaining about their lot in life and thinking they have been hard done by.......When you are middle-aged and feel you need a mansion, a pool, a holiday house in France and a fancy car and are still not happy then there is something wrong with you.......By all means I encourage people to be successful but if you have so much money that you don't know what to do with it all then start looking at options to donate that money to charities in the U.S. or overseas.

I was outside last night letting our sweet doggie do her business. It was about 1am…the stars were so bright and all the summer insects were singing their night songs. Even heard our neighborhood owl hooting in the distance. Perfection. It brought back so many memories from childhood camp-outs with my cousins in the backyard. 😊

Tipper, if you are ever in Greenville, SC, I would love to meet you. I don't want to be negative, but I loved your channel before Matt came on so much. I don't love to see the death of deer, his cooking and the one about gathering bear grease was so repugnant, especially that I know how the bear are hunted and killed. I don’t know where I heard this, but when I am upset about something I try to think if this is going to be a problem for 5 hours or 5 years and then decide if it’s really worth being upset about. Most of the things that make people mad won’t even be remembered in 5 years (or even 5 days).

I am so glad to hear Corey had her baby and things went so good for her. Saleah had such a hard birth with Davian I haven’t said anything. (She waited to long so no epidural) She burst the veins in her eyes and they were bloody for the last month. She also burst little pin point size veins all around her neck and across her forehead. The nurses called it something but had never saw it before in person. It looked awful but praise Yah that she’s healed up now and the baby is thriving. Nothing like the grand babies for sure!❤️✝️🕊️

I live in eastern N.C. We are from Roanoke area and so many things you say sound like home. When our kids married from around here we knew we would not move back. It is flat here with no hills. But the mountains will always be home. One saying I heard from around here that I had not heard before was “where do you stay” which I finally found out meant “where do you live”. There were others but that was the one that was so different. I finally figured out that the food seems to change from the mountains to the plains, not from state to state. Chicken and dumplings became chicken and pastry, cornbread is always fried, and a dumpling is made from cornbread in a pot of collards, which I had never had before. But all of it is good eating no matter how it is cooked. Love to the babies!

WORDS OF WISDOM When I was a little boy and like little boys do. I'd say Granny where ya been or what ya doing? She'd say son keep your nose out of my butter or sometimes she'd say son butter your own toast and I'll butter mine. Never in a mean way but in sweet speak. I can also remember my momma and all my aunts say it to one another, kinda in a joking way. But it's good advice never the less.

Congratulations on the wonderful grandson!❤ I struggle a lot with insomnia, and now I'm listening to your reading of Sindey Saylor Farr for the third time, because then at least the waiting time for sleep is pleasant.😄♥️ I just received my copy of the book because I love it and realized I had to have it in my book collection. I also( finally) became too curious about the chapters you left out in you reading😂 (which I, btw, totally respect❤).

When my parents were going somewhere and we would ask she’d say two different things 1 I’m going to fix a pair of fitten fitches by the time you figure that out I’ll be back. 2 are you writing a book? Then leave that chapter out please. Congratulations again on the arrival of your new Grandson. Brooks, Oregon

This isn't wisdom, just a comment. When Matt says he's come unfed, it reminds me of the first time my husband, Dean, told me, "my bellybutton is knawin' on my spine". I guess he must've been really hungry, but then again, he always is.

When folks get to complaining when work availability is up and getting more hours is happening, the wisdom replied: make like a squirrel and sto up those acorns, winter's coming.

Congratulations on little Woodrow ! Glad your garden is doing well. My husband is 82 and doesn’t have much vision. My neighbor brought me some fresh tomatoes and I gave her eggs as usual. Sure wish I lived close enough to come to your signing of your cook book. I did order one. Can’t wait for it to arrive. All the family is gone on . I really do miss all the pickin and grinning. Funny saying- my dad wore a toboggan on his head in the winter. My husband rode a toboggan down the icy hills in the winter! I’m always saying something about my gown tale.

I kept wondering why jar flies suddenly became cicadas. I guess us hillbillies have a language of our own

The Katydids live in trees as cicadas do, but you hear them sing from twilight to daybreak. Cicadas or Jar fly are singing from morning and day long until twilight. 😊 Got August 3rd jotted down in my calendar. Good time to drive down to Alexander's, right after payday. I'm excited to get to meet you dear lady. Hope you drag that scoundrel husband along with you. Like to meet him as well.

I looked up Ola Belle Reed and found that there is an annual Ola Belle Reed music festival in Lansing, NC on August 3rd. There is also a folk group named Olabelle after her

Apparently, lots of theaters are open on Christmas. Our family didn't do it, but I have worked with people who made it part of their Christmas routine to go see a movie on Christmas day. As always this was a good video. Thanks for posting.
