I recognize that voice- nice to hear Sir Tony narrating this special! I love steam trains, and will be riding one in July, 2024- the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Rail Road. And I shall do it wearing an 1883 style dress. I can hardly wait!

I see that 'Baldrick' is still having the "Sir" put in his credits. Extremely bad form, old chap.

Why does my neurotypical 51 year old male cousin by marriage named Christopher Kienle know a lot of the Dallas Cowboys Football team, but not about this steam train the Flying Scotsman the way my special needs friends I know this train?

I hope one of these days that Flying Scotsman can go back to the Candy Apple Green livery with the number 4472, but a man can dream

That may be happening as that’s included with her new maintenance contract, there’s a provision included for conversion to single chimney and livery change if requested

And I think of Sir Tony as the commentator for TimeTeam. But I can be forgiven, because I live in USA, and have never seen The Black Adder.

I disagree strongly with some of the above smug and mean-spirited comments. I found the documentary in its entirety to be interesting and well done. By the way, I am American,

I was wondering, was it only engine 1462 that was the flying Scotsman or all in the series ?
@danielbryan7378

In case anyone was wondering the Engine's name is "Flying Scotsman"... Even narrator Tony Robinson sounds utterly bored with the script repetition. It's indicative of the times when documentary producers think we are so thick as viewers that they have to repeat segments over and over and over again. Utterly appalling script.

The script of the documentary is written amazingly. But the narration is absolutely abhorrent, almost no intonation and some signs of boredom between some segments which makes the documentary a bit less entertaining. Great scenery though

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong. Not the most famous. Big Boy, Hiawatha, there are hundreds of locos that are bigger, more powerful and faster with a full load. Typically British BS. "we are bigger and better" dont let the truth get in the way. The first Hiawatha ran between Chicago and the Twin Cities on May 29, 1935, on a daily 6½ hour schedule over the 410 miles (660 km) to St. Paul. The four new class A locomotives had streamlining by Otto Kuhler, were oil-fired to reduce servicing time en route, and were some of the fastest steam engines ever built, capable of powering their five-car trains at sustained speeds more than 100 mph The most powerful steam locomotive currently in operation is the Union Pacific "Big Boy" 4014, a simple articulated 4-8-8-4 locomotive capable of a tractive effort (pulling force) of 135,375 lbf (602 kN) at 10 mph The UP 844 is the LONGEST SERVING STEAM LOCO IN THE WORLD. In 1944, Union Pacific and the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) collaborated on the FEF-3, a class of 10 locomotives designed to pull passenger trains at 90 mph. The FEF-3 could reach and regularly run at 120 mph It will pull a train at 120 MPH. It will Pull the little british loco cold at more than 100 mph. Get your facts right. Its embarrassing.

The UP 844 is far from the longest serving, flying Scotsman entered service over 20 years before 844 and we never said Flying Scotsman is the best in the world but she's a mighty fine locomotive, so maybe get your facts right!
