Actually pontificating came from "making a bridge".

Is the experts so on the point in every field of science, that there is no room for speculation, or bias blindness? Has scientific results, discoveries, or predictions political applications? And does political applications have an effect on economy? Does economical changes have an effect on business? Does that which has an effect on business, motivate people to take actions, from the fear of personal business losses, or from the hope of personal business gains? Can someone buy an expert, so that he will lie, misguid, or fabricate data, evidence, or his personal advice? In my opinion Yes. In my opinion, there is plenty of room for speculation and bias blindness (or reasoning in a paradigm) in the community of experts. Science is just an artificial collection of observations about reality, and to say that you understand all the causes and functions of all the observations you have made, is just dishonest. Or that you can construct from these observations a some kind of a objektive universal picture of the world, in the sence that how it works and what its nature is like, is just, in my opinion, absurds and beyond honest. In my opinion, science has major political applications, and because of this, have to be looked with an critical mind, keeping in mind that some political agenda can be behind some scientific publication. In my opinion, you can in this world buy an expert to promote your agenda, or business driven science. I think this becomes plain if you look at how, example, pharmaceutical drug companies run their business, or how tobacco corporations fight against different countries healthcare systems. And another point is that, there is as much variation of opinion in the scientific community, that the notion "to follow an expert" becomes a meaningless notion. Which of them do you follow, do you go for the majority opinion, the opinion with the most charismatic spokesperson, or the opinion that gets the most caverage in media? All of which are flawed indicators. In my opinion, you should think yourself, and use experts only as an consultant, believing them only if they can demonstrate their claim, and not just because they are maybe more knowledgeable. And be honest if in fact some thing is unknown, or unknowable in nature with the methods that we now have. Because they may hold biases that modify the picture that they get when looking some pit of data, or they may be guilty of wishful thinking, which is so normal to humans, regardless of your expertise, or education.
